A Polk County woman talked Wednesday about how she shot and killed one of two men who robbed her at gunpoint Tuesday in Haines City.

Authorities say Thomas Porter Wiley, 24, died shortly after fleeing from Judy Foster's Mister Money store in a getaway car with two other men.

This isn't the first such incident for Foster. She pulled a gun on two men who tried to rob her a year and a half ago. She was ready to defend herself this time too.

"All I can say is that when that person entered my place of business with a gun drawn and pointed at me, he should have been prepared for any consequences," said Foster.

Judy's husband, Bob Foster, who runs Mister Money with her, says he's proud of her and that no one should be surprised she's already back at work.

"They know that she would be back the next day ready to take care of business," said Bob Foster. "That's just the way she is."

Judy Foster's customers are happy to see her back at work alive and well. They say they would have taken a similar action under the same circumstances.

"If I had a business, I would go get something registered too," said customer Shanell Cody. "In my name. So I could do the same thing."
So does Judy still have a gun behind the counter at Mister Money?

"I'm not sure I want to answer that at this time," said Judy. "But you have to be prepared."

Foster describes the shooting as a tragedy, something she never wanted to happened and never wants to happen again.

Authorities have charged 25-year-old Zachery Bernard Geddis of Lake Alfred with robbery with a firearm and second-degree murder for his role in the incident.

Geddis, who police said was the getaway driver during the robbery, has been charged with Wiley's murder because he was involved in the crime that led to Wiley's death, police said

Authorities are still searching for a third suspect in the robbery attempt -- 22-year-old Taurean Jammal Brown. If you have any information about his whereabouts, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-226-TIPS.

Good for Her!

Also glad not to read about her being charged.

In the previous robbery

Did she waste the other one? seems to me she should get a comunity service award, someone call the Chamber of Commerce or something, and paint little tombestones on the door here lies the last robber that had the same idea you had with a crime scene outline on the floor just inside the door, now that would be a deterent.

"All I can say is that when that person entered my place of business with a gun drawn and pointed at me, he should have been prepared for any consequences," said Foster.

AMEN!!!

WOW

Now that is a WOMAN. Wonder if she has any daughters ;):D

this, i like.

Good for her.

This however had me scratching my head.
"If I had a business, I would go get something registered too," said customer Shanell Cody. "In my name. So I could do the same thing."
I'm glad that she sees the need for a gun but I think some education is in order about the registration part.

Unless of course she is planning on getting a full auto Uzi, you know, one of the ones that will be flooding the streets in about a month :D .

A true story from a while back.

A city punk entered a small country liquor store. He took out his wallet to look like a customer, then checked to see if he was the only customer. When he saw no one except the elderly woman behind the counter, he pulled a .25 automatic from his jacket pocket and announced a stickup.

She came up with an 8 3/8 inch S&W .44 Magnum, saying, "I bet I got a bigger gun than you got, sonny."

Her only complaint, she told police, was that the money in his wallet was not enough to cover the cost of the screen door that he took completely off its hinges on his way out.

But the wallet did have his ID and driver's license, so it did not require any brilliant detective work to arrest him.

There was a similar story to this in Virginia awhile back. IIRC, a father was picking his son up from a video store where he worked, when two robbers came in pointing guns and shouting demands. The father (who was legally carrying) drew and fired, killing the first robber and injuring the second. The father was cleared of any charges, and the second robber was charged with the murder of the first.

I believe Georgia takes a similar stance.

Anyone remember that case? I'd like more info on it.

Erik F,

Was that a video store or a liquor store? I remember the one you're talking about, but can't remember the exact location.

There was one incident recounted in a past issue of American Handgunner where two individuals tried to rob the Hollywood Jewlers in Henrico County a few years back. Unfortunately for them, the owner had stocked his store with numerous .38 snubs, and had instructed everyone that worked for him in their use. The only ones that lost their lives that day were the attempted robbers..

That was in FL and it was either a Blockbuster or Hollywood Video.
I posted it at craigslist.com and they banned me for advocating violence...:uhoh:

If I can find the original story I'll send it to you.

Yup. She's been in the local news down here.
I read that she was once a police reserve officer. Forgot what state.
Glad to see that She's ok and came out on top.
Man... if this happened in NYC...
Could only imagine what would happen to Her. It would be "all Her fault", and the robbers would be "victims of gun violence".
Oh...but wait... most likely, She would'nt have a gun because Her application for a permit would still be under review!

Sounds like she will not be charged in a criminal case.

I wonder if any statements she makes now would be used against her in a future civil case by the perp's family. Hope not.
