Thought I would ask the Gunsmiths instead of the Rifle forum guys/gals...

I have two AR-15 flash hiders (parkerized steel) from DPMS, one A1 type with 1/2" X 28 threads and an A2 type with 1/2" X 28 threads.

I have two 9mm carbines, a High Point 995 and a Beretta Cx4 Storm.

If I wanted to put the flash hiders on the carbines, what would be the best way to go about it? Should I thread the end of the barrels? Is there enough barrel thickness due to the larger caliber bore? How much would a gunsmith charge to do this? Is there any legal issues?

Should I drill out the flash hiders oversized and use set screws? I do not like set screw installations... they mess up the finish, can work lose, and look "toy" like to me.

Beyound the reason of "Why" I would want to do this, can it be done and the carbines still remain reliable?

Thank you for your interest.
