I know a retired agent. His wife did a similar thing about 10 years ago, "forgot gun in purse" went to fly out of NY. Got pulled into the little holding rooms. An hour later she was released. Nothing was ever filed, the gun stayed, she was allowed to leave. It came up one day when another retired ex agent asked him what ever happened to that gun. It's probablly in some guys desk. No one shot themselves, I would think this happens more than we realize, as so many branches these days, guns are everyware.People just forget things. This was an older lady, once her Identity was established it was over with.My wife won't carry as she is a little hyper and forgetfull, and just doesn't want the aggarvation of something to worry about wit 4 grandkids. It's better than having an accident.
Stories like this only reinforce my apprehension.
