Flintknapping

Anyone else here into flintknapping or bowmaking? Anyone going to the Fredericksberg (TX) Knappin in October? Bill Metcalfes Website with Link to Fredericksberg Knappin info.. He also has many points for sale as well as tools and a video. I highly recommend Bill Metcalfes tools and his video. He gives awesome lessons. I learned how to knap from him about a year and a half ago and am still going at it. He also gives classes on bowmaking.

He also has kilns for sale for heat treating your own material. As well as alot of material that is already heat treated that you can purchase.

I knap flint a lot; obsidian moreso. Craig at Neolithics helped get me started with everything I needed for a VERY reasonable price. I very much recommend his website for ordering supplies.

Not going to that knap-in, but I sure wish I were! I've yet to find a list of when/where they'll be. Any leads?

A friend recently showed me how to knap (or rather showed me HOW to knap). I haven't done any more than pound a couple of flakes, but it's the kind of thing I can see getting under your skin very easily.

And, of course, Lithics-Net link page - good for history, point types, and even a few knapping sites.

FWIW, the videos that Craig made and sells at Neolithics are worth more than any of these links. If you're serious about learning to knap, I cannot stress how highly I recommend you purchase one.
