well the first day of flintlock season came with snow squales and 25 degrees weather. i saw several deer at day break, but no shot taken(to far) and as i was moving to another spot(8:00am) i saw a small group comming at a trot to go to their bedding area,i checked my pan quickly as they came up the draw i and took the shot at 35-40 yards. she ran about 80yards and toppeled over and was dead when i got down to her, she was a nice doe. PRB with 80grs FFF went right thru her wrecking both lungs. i tell you, this is the third deer i have taken with the pedersoli and with black english 3/4" flint it sure is a sparker.. eastbank

Congratulations!

I was not so lucky today with my Hawken. I saw three does grazing in an open field but the shot was too long for a muzzleloader...they were 8 miles from where I hunt!

I'll try again before the season closes on the 31st.

Congratulations also! I saw several on the way there but only 2 in my hunting area. They both spooked at over 200 yards.
