Florida Sheriff's Org fights Open Carry Bill

Any police officer who makes the statement this guy did, needs to be removed from office. This time he threatend to "draw down" on gun carriers. The next time it might be people pushing baby buggies or carrying a Bible. He has sworn to uphold the law. Not just law he likes. He expects people to obey laws they don't agree with. He's no better.

Well, hopefully the Legislature passes open carry and the Sheriff has to eat his words.

The first speaker said that legal, concealed carry was just fine with him but that he opposes legal open carry; seems like carrying a gun is ok with him as long as he can't see it.
Note: I haven't read the whole thread so please excuse me if I repeat what's already been posted.

If one was prone to criminal activity, why bring so much attention to one's self by carrying a gun openly? If I was up to no good, I'd do anything I could to keep myself under the radar.

Although I'm not opposed to legal open carry, I'm not a fan of it; concealed is for me. I don't want the attention and hassle and I certainly don't want to give away the strategic advantage of having my opponent in the dark regarding my capabilities. That said, I still think what these guys said in that video completely crumbles under scrutiny. If someone would have said that the extra 911 calls about "man with a gun" would have strained their resources, I would have at least had to admit that there was some sense in there somewhere. All of this criminals-will-be-carrying-handguns-openly stuff is just nonsense.

I guess establishing or recognizing criminal intent is not part of FL. police training? Seems like the tragedies he's afraid of would be created by his officers.
