Heard it straight from an FN rep today (said he was at HQ in Herstal, Belgium last week), but he said that they would be expensive. More .223 and .308 belt feds sounds good to me.

He also said that the SCAR rifles in .223 and .308 were still going to take until 2008 to get into civilian hands but he has been demoing some full-auto versions and people really like them.

He also mentioned an FN bolt rifle chambered in 5.7x28mm.

Something tells me that what happens in the next few hours will weigh heavily on FN's plans.

Hopefully the new 24X will be a bit more reliable.

Huh? The SAW has had its share of problems, but the M240 is one of the best machine guns ever built. The only complaint I've ever heard about it is that it's too heavy. There's a reason practically all of the western world uses it.

:what:

*drops dead in happiness*

*then gets back up*

OMG! Semi auto 249 and 240's. Wow, I would've never thought of it.

That's 2 more for the semi auto belt feds.

RPD, M60, HK21, PKM, MG42, M1919, M2HB, M249, and M240.

And I'm going to get ALL of them. Ok, maybe not the 1919.:)

My only rant about semi auto belt feds are the prices. The RPD costs about $2,000, not bad at all. But the M60 costs $8,000!!! That's insane!

Most gun shops will never buy such a thing to sell because it would take forever to sell. So that mean you must buy them from the internet, and doing business on the internet gives you no option for lay-away so you're screwed, sitting at home, angry as hell, screaming DAMN THE WORLD!!!!:what: :cuss: :fire:

Uhh...I...I apologize for that. I like just guns very much.

:D

You're forgetting the M2, Vickers, and MG34 that are also out there.

I doubt FN is going to invest the time and money into something now that they will reasonably believe will be illegal to sell within a couple of years.

 Am I the only one who thinks this would be a dumb idea? What would the intended purpose be? Much too slow for combat, much too weak for medium game hunting/ SHTF, and much too expensive to be a varmint caliber. So what exactly is the intended use? If someone has any idea what this could possibly be used for, I am all ears.

Won't hold my breathe on this one but...

I'll take on of each please(probably be worth taking out the loan to get'em too). "Hand crank"  !!!

Still 2 Many Choices!?

Bumped into a regular acquaintance at my regular gun range about a month ago who is employed at a certain gun manufacturer/refurbisher (not FN). He said his firm was is also going to build a semi 240 (I didn't ask about the 249) in the future and might possibly have one of the prototypes at SHOT next year. We'll have to see. (Can't wait, it'll be my first time at SHOT.)

None of these guns will make it to market. The Dems will have a ban in place by mid-winter. I would expect any company developing guns from scratch will halt such work now. The only likely new projects will be things well along or that require little work to develop from existing items.
