Anyone out there who can share some information about the above pistol? I have not found it listed in the 32nd Blue Book of Gun Values. I want to know about its quality, accuracy, etc. Also dates of manfacture?? Thanks!

They are the same as the BHP 40 S&W.

CDNN blew them out at $400 and they are discontinued.

I personally do not like them and prefer the 9mm but lots of people like them.

Lots of those FN's CDNN offered had the SFS (Safe Fast Shooting) System, so I'd look at them closely if that is something that may affect your decision.

Fn 40

When did CNN close these pistols out and when were they manfactured? What is the current value?

The vast majority of them where not SFS. The last ones to go where because it was a solution looking for a problem.

At the time CDNN blew them out they were still being produced with the Browning rollmarks. The guns that CDNN sold were the last of the FN rollmarked guns. They had 9mm & 40 S&W in matte, bright blue, standard SA and SFS.

The value has gone up on the 40 S&Ws because they are no longer made but the FN rollmark on MKIII always brings less than a Browning rollmark.

I would say in todays used market in LNIB to excellent condition this is a $400 to $500 gun.

I have the Browning Hi Power in 40S&W. It is a wonderful pistol. It tames the .40S&W round as well as any pistol I've shot. When I heard that it was being discontinued I had to buy one before they got too pricey. It is one gun I'll never sell. I have no idea why they stopped making them... maybe the European market didn't support it and the politics in America made it too costly to produce? I also own 4 BHPs in 9mm and this gun is equally nice. The trigger is so nice that I did not remove the stupid mag safety. I'd guess it to be in the 6-7# range. Accurate and reliable like it's little brother. If you like the BHP and you like the .40S&W round then don't let the price scare you away. It's worth every penny and will only go up in value over time.

Thanks to everyone for the reply. Does anyone know why the FN rollmark on the Mark III sells for less than the Browning rollmark??

Because alot of misinformed people think the FN is not a true "Browning". Not to mention that the Browning is an FN!

FN Hi-Powers generally sell for a little less than BHPs because 1) most people don't understand that FN builds both guns (Browning is the IMPORTER and not the gun maker), and 2) most of the BHPs I've seen were are sold/delivered with slightly upscale features -- a nicer finish, prettier grips, etc.

Then, too, I think there's more "magic" associated with the Browning name in the US than in Europe.

Functionally and mechanically, they're the same.

(I didn't realize that FN was no longer offering the .40 version; the Browning website shows only 9mm BHP models, and the FN website doesn't even show a 9mm Hi-Power -- just the FNX line.)

These are worth more than you might think. Try to find one for less than $700 if you can find one at all.
Here's my FN SFS .40 hi power. It's an outstanding pistol! Very well fit, ergonomic are the best, accuracy is top notch.

I agree with Brian--very accurate, highly reliable, fits well in the hand (same as the 9mm BHP in the grip; slide is a very little bit wider on the .40), tames the usually snappy recoil of the .40 S&W cartridge very well, is worth much more than CDNN was selling them for in 2007-2008 (H-P prices in general are higher than they were in '08, perhaps because of the gun-buying frenzy unleashed by the results of the election of that year), and the SFS system (if the one you are looking at is so equipped) is much more than just a solution in search of a problem. I would also agree that if you can locate one at, around, or just slightly more than $700, BUY IT! They are great guns! I regret selling very few of the guns I've let go over the years, but the FN .40 S&W H-P with SFS is one of them. (As I remember, FN produced these in 2003-2004).

CDNN always seems to have their GREAT CLOSEOUTS when I'm short of cash...

I would've picked up one of their BHPs or FNs when they last offered them, had I been able.

(I have a great T-series BHP.)

Sorry guys I disagree with this 100%. It is not that people do not think the FN marked guns are not REAL BHPs the reality is that FN made a lot of these guns a few years back looking to push into the LEO/Military/Govt market but they never sold. The SFS was developed for that IMHO. They stopped making them because they could not sell them. When they failed they dumped all the FN marked guns to CDNN. People know this and know that they were sold on the cheap. Thus they get less for them when you resell them.

FN guns not matter what model always sell for less than their Browning counter parts. It is not just the BHP. Look at the FNP vs the Browning Pro. The pros never sold for what the FNs sell at. The Brownings were $500+ guns the FNPs when the price was right was a $350 gun. Same gun different rollmarks.
