FN proof mark

Need help identifying this mark located on the receiver of a M49

That's an FN-49 made for Egypt, so it should be in 8mm Mauser; have you stripped it down completely, and checked the gas system? They fired a lot of corrosive ammo through those, and it's something you have to watch for.

Hi. That's not a proof mark. It's a country's stamp. Egypt, like SDC says.
