Try a Kahr PM45

Versatile, dependable, expensive polymer but much less than most 1911's. Surprising how little kick for a 17.3 ounce hammerless DAO .45 (5+1, 6&7 mags coming). Fits well in Don Hume IWB H715M #40-P45. What I like most about the Kahr is near-zero print in a front pocket using a High Noon pocket with a velcro strip sewn to the front edge so I can use my Kahr pocket holster flap over it, looks like a second wallet. 3.14" barrel, 1.01" thick, 4.49" high, 5.67" long, all five fingers fit, find me one better and I'll own it too.

... even still I still want a Colt New Agent or Kimber CDP II/RCP with Crim-Traces.

Seecamp?

How about the Seecamp? I think it is the smallest gun that can be sold in Massachusetts. Very very small. Realistically, you will spend 99.99999% of the time carrying it and .00001% of the time actually using it so comfort and ease of carry is probably the most important variable.

Just get a bigger pocket and slip this one in.....

fyi

Just to throw this in there, i know it's not 45 but the smith airwieght hammerless 38 is a great gun that would be easy to hide in an ankle holster or purse for a women.

I have the stainless Officer's ACP and love everything about it... except the weight. So, there's a Kahr P45 to fill that niche. Get to a range and rent one to try it for yourself.

Kel-Tec 380 for 24/7 carry in anything from a bathing suit on up. Rather have my XD-45c along too but concealed carry for ordinary non-leos like me must stay concealed so it's only for sometimes. :uhoh:
I'm guessing that in Massachusetts staying concealed may be a big issue even more than here(Washington state.)
You will probably need two or three guns for different times if you want to be armed as well as possible. Perhaps a Bersa compact 45 for in-between and many possibilities for a bigger 45 in winter. Different carry methods for different times too. Everybody has their favorite gun and holster but you have to develop your own favorites.
Try renting guns at a range until you find some you like and think you could fit in with your body shape and life. What clothes you wear at different times and places, different seasons, etc.. What about touchy-feely people like your relatives? Will they notice a strange lump?
The tiny Kt 380 can always fit in somewhere but others will vary for different people. There is no one answer for everybody.

Another vote for Commander-sized gun. Look at the Bobtail Commander from Dan Wesson. (the new one, they make it in black now.)

I'll throw in another vote for the Kimber Ultra Carry II. I've got one with CT grips and had Tactical Wedge night sights installed. I am in serious love/lust with that gun.

Colt defender is my choice..Bought one this past spring..Its lightweight, accurate, & I Love it ..conceals well, and shoots great..

full size 1911. para ord gun rights model. double stacked. conceals very well in a high noon bare asset holster. I got this fairly recently but i tried on some summer clothes and it still conceals very well with a nice polo shirt

probably any Kahr, big enough to handle well, small enough for a pocket if it came to it, and most importantly good proven calibers like the 9mm, 40, and 45.

STI

Take a look at the STI Rogue or Escort. Both are fine conceal carry weapons.

Question for the colt fans

Guys please don't take this the wrong way or as dogging Colt but I was wondering it the fit and finish has improved with Colt in the last 5-6 years. I used to work at a gun shop around the time Colt almost went under. The same time they stopped making the pocket 9 etc. We got a new defender (new model then) in at the store and stripped it down because I was thinking about taking it home thinking it would be worth a ton if Colt went under. The tooling marks on this gun were HORRIBLE and the worst I had ever seen on a gun period (at any price). The slide fit was loose as hell too. I loved Colts at the time and it actually bummed me out, and I was depressed that a historic company was about to go under. Since then I have taken Colt of my shopping list. If they are better now I will be extremely happy to add Colt back into the lineup and think about getting a defender. Are they as nice as Kimbers now?

Again, I am not a brand snob and have nothing against Colt. I live in CT and would buy multiple Colts if that gun was a fluke or resolved now.
