Haven't decided what yet... Maybe an EAA 10mm... maybe.
For my only early Xmas present I bought a Bushmaster XM-15E2S 5.56 with a old Surefire M951 light on it that came with it. My wife got one thing she wanted about the same amount and all the other money for Christmas will be for my sons and other families presents.
It was produced in Windham Maine in March 2007 and bought by the North Richland Hills PD and used in some capacity until it was surplused out and sold at GT Distributors for a decent price. The light will get an LED upgrade that's available now.
The number '2' is on the stock, so I'm guessing that's a rack number and it was issued for patrol or call outs or whatever. The outside is a little dinged up. Once it was popped open for a look inside and down the barrel it looks almost new. Very little wear.
Wanted an AR that I'd actually put in my truck as a truck rifle for when we travel, go camping and that sort of thing. Before this I'd end up buying a Noveske or a Daniel Defense, put on a red dot or a scope, light, sling and before I knew it I'd be up to $1800 to $2000. I'm pretty hesitant to throw those in the truck for an extended stay even if they are in a lock box under key when I walk away from it.
With this it works as is (shot it) and while it's kinda cool I don't have any issue letting it stay in my truck.
I am also giving my daughter a new Walther PPS, my son a new S&W MP15 in .223/5.56
and my Granddaughter's boyfriend a new 12 GA pump in mossy oak camo.
Christmas is a time for giving and I like to give guns.
No I won't add you all to my Christmas list.
I just wish my wife was a gun girl but she isn't.
She told me yesterday she would buy me a gun if I wanted so I may take her up on that offer.
I'm becoming a huge fan of 9 MM.
I'm 62 but have only about two years with handguns, .380 & 9x18 Mak.,and only two 'formal handgun instruction' classes.
Yesterday I rented the 229 at the indoor range in Bartlett TN. Really impressed ! My handguns are all Makarovs. The slightly heavy P229 DA trigger is very smooth, requires only a very consistent pull pressure.
And such a solid design! Felt like it could last a thousand years. Built like a tank.
Despite just acquiring a CZ 75 PO1 (compact) two weeks ago, I would like to add the 229 as my next 'modern handgun' (compared to a Makarov), one day.
The ergos are very good, and it might be about as easy to conceal as the 75 Compacts.
This is a good tradition to uphold.
My dad missed it as a gift at my 21st (my parents were divorcing at the time), but gave me my Ruger Mk3 22/45 on my 22nd.
Indeed, a SIG P229 would fit right in with your Makarovs and your new CZ P01. And yes, with a good holster and belt, the P229 is easy to conceal carry as the P01.
But my buddy got a 1948 Win Mod 70 30-06, in very good condition. Only problem is that it does not have the bolt. HIs wife got it at an estate sale.
BTW, he's in the market for a pre-64 Model 70 30cal bolt!
oh wait,.. I did gift myself a new holster for my SP101.
I did exactly that. I took my 20+ year old GP100 6" to the range yesterday to try out the trigger work I did to it a couple months ago. I'm very satisfied with the single action trigger improvement.
