Please only for FFLs that on a regular basis ship handguns via USPS Priority Mail.
Not any other method,

Two questions;

Every shipment or transfer of a handgun, due you complete the PS Form 1508 for every individual transaction/ different person or business.?

and

If you do, do you take the package with the form to the Post Office or do you have the Postal worker pick the shipment and form up at your place of business? (Shop. home wherever)

Thank you

I was shipping a handgun at my FFL last month, he took my drivers license, did some work on the computer, and sealed the gun up in a priority mail package. It cost $12 and change.

The mail lady happen to come in, and he just handed it over to her...sorry but I don't recall if he handed her paperwork also.

Yes, USPS regulations require it.

Yes, I've done both.

My post office uses a sort of "blanket 1508 form" and allows FFLs to add addresses to the back.

I typically just print one off and fill it out for each shipment because as often as not, my wife is actually sending them and not me personally. So far every package has been taken to the post office for shipping.

I only use one post office for all my USPS firearms shipping. At different times I have been told to fill out a new 1508 for each package, and others that my "blanket" form was OK. The Postmaster is usually ok with the "blanket", but the counter people want new ones. I don't argue.

That is what led to the question. Seems some accept a "blanket" form and others a new one each time, We have 4 PO with say 5 miles. Other States I have been to like GA have one every block! :D

Sadly, there is really no instructions or FAQ on using the Form 1508 other than what is printed on the form itself.

Nothing on the Form 1508 or any USPS instruction implies that one "blanket" form is acceptable. On the contrary, each 1508 has a place for the date of mailing as well as a place for the addresse(s) of the recipient(s).

As each 1508 must be postmarked at the time of mailing I would think its a safe bet the intent is for a new 1508 to be used with every shipment to a specific address.

You -can- list multiple shipments on the single form, but -that- form must be handed in when you make those shipments.

Any PO that says they have a "blanket form" isn't following their own rules, but what else is new?

Yes, the answer I got from a long time postal worker who also is into firearms said that a new form each times. As mentioned above it is supposed to be time stamped, so that to me would mean a new one each time, as mentioned.
