I am considering going with a three AR setup, with each rifle being used for a particular purpose. Just wanted to have some fun with it and see how others would configure theirs under the same goals.

Rifle 1: Things that go bump in the night
Rifle 2: Coyote and smaller varminting
Rifle 3: Precision distance shooter capable of hunting deer+ sized game

If you were going to build/buy three AR's for these specific purposes...How would you outfit them?

All things considered,
Rifle 1: 12 gauge, not an AR
Rifle 2: 20” rifle with a decent 3X9
Rifle 3: 6.5 Grendel between 22-24”
And just to have a 3rd AR how about a 9mm. These are just flat out fun!

This is what I have.

Rifle 1: Things that go bump in the night

POF P415-16-BP (16" Rock Creek fluted barrel)
Daniel Defense Omega rail
Geissele SSA trigger
POF roller cam pin
PRI Military Big Latch
Leupold Mark 4 1.5-5x24mm ill. SPR
LaRue QD LT-104 mount
TROY HK style BUIS front and rear
VLOTR EMod stock
MAGPUL PMAGs and XT panels
LaRue tactical sling

Rifle 2: Coyote and smaller varminting or my "match" rifle

Bushmaster lower with DPMS 24" fluted heavy barrel upper
Bushmaster varminter/predator free-float handguard
Jewel two-stage trigger
POF roller cam pin upgrade kit
PRI Gas Buster charging handle with Military Big Latch
Leupold Mark 4 3.5-10x40mm M1 FFP TMR
LaRue QD LT-104 mount
TROY HK style BUIS front and rear
MAGPUL PRS stock and PMAGS
Harris swivel/lock bipod

Rifle 3: Precision distance shooter capable of hunting deer+ sized game

POF P308-20-MRR SPR (20" Rock Creek fluted barrel)
Geissele SSA trigger
POF roller cam pin
PRI Combat Latch
Leupold Mark 4 3.5-10x40mm M3 ill. TMR
GG&G mount
TROY HK style BUIS front and rear
MAGPUL PRS stock
Harris swivel/lock bipod

All I need is my ONE for everything!

DPMS AR10 style (LR 260L), in .260 Rem, 18" lightweight bbl
ERGO grip
Tac-latch
CF handguard
Lo-Pro gas block
ACE fixed skeleton stock w/ recoil pad
Nikon Omega 3-9x40 in Warne Maximas
Single point tac sling

OK, it's a jack of all trades, master of none, that's true, but it's a pretty good jack at all these trades. It does #2 and #3 a bit better than #1.

But to play by the rules:

Rifle 1: Things that go bump in the night

Your basic 16" 5.56 or 6.8 spc middy with Leupold Prismatic, forward grip, light, co-witnessed BUIS, & bayo. Better yet, Rob XCR with same setup. I guess if I had to choose, in a vacuum, 6.8 spc. Upgrade to Premier Reticles 1.1-8x24 when available.

Rifle 2: Coyote and smaller varminting

I have this one: Stag 24" ultra bull .204 Ruger, with Nikon 6.5-20x44mm AO

Rifle 3: Precision distance shooter capable of hunting deer+ sized game

I'd go with the 20" DPMS AR10 (LR 260), in .260 Rem

I have two AR's, a Bushy A1 Commando (11.5/5.5" BBL), and one that I rolled myself for any situation that has...

Spikes Lower
DPMS 20" Hbar A3 upper
Double Star Picitinny rail gas block
Rock River Lower Kit with Trigger job (5lb break)
High Standard A2 butt stock
Midwest Industries flip up Low-pro iron sites
First Samco Rifle length Quad rail
Hogue Over-molded grip
IOR QR-TS scope.

Serious duty 5.56 AR's should be as close to 20" as you can get them IMHO. Get that 5.56 round stocked to velocities that will allow it to break apart (causing the biggest wound channel) inside your intended targets (close as you can to 3000 FPS).

I'll end up building a serious "home defense" upper for my little 11" down the road, I am thinking an 18" light profile BBL on an A4 upper for that application. Although I'll keep my little commando upper... cause it's just so darned cute.

all 3 would be from LWRC in 6.8 SPC, in FDE color.

1: M6A3 18" barrel with Magpul UBR stock. US Optics 1.8-10 scope rail covers and 6-9" Harris with podlock and podclaws. Surefire M961XM07 225 lumen light

2: M6A3 14.7" OBA (Open Bolt Auto, this is for fun, after all) with LMT SOPMOD stock and TD Stubby grip. Trijicon M4 RCO with drop compensation appropriate for cartridge/barrel. Surefire M600C Scout light.

3: PSD (8" BBL), again with OBA with MAGPUL CTR stock. Aimpoint Micro T1 Surefire M300A Scout light. Magpul AFG to help keep my hand from in front of the muzzle on this one.

(1) AAC Suppressor for each :D

Anyone want to loan me some money? And a time machine...

Ok, I'll play.

Rifle 1: Things that go bump in the night
I'm in a normal suburbian style neighborhood, but out in the country.

-Glock23 loaded with Rem Goldensabre, and a FN PS90 with AimpointML2 loaded with SS195 and a slightly heavier than stock powder charge, sit together ready to rock.
-A Colt 6920 is nearby with an AimpointML3 in a Larue LT129,
ambi safety, Moe grip, 10 Pmags, Troy BUIS, GearSector 1 point sling, Hornady TAP 70+gn

Rifle 2: Coyote and smaller varminting
-same Colt 6920 as above, with cheaper 55gn Federal fmj, and a Aimpoint 3x magnifier in a Larue Tactical pivot mount.

Rifle 3: Precision distance shooter capable of hunting deer+ sized game
- LMT Lower, Sopmod or Magpul stock, ambi safety, Moe+ grip, 2 stage trigger (undetermined brand).
-6.8SPCII 16" Bison Armory Upper, rifle length Troy Extreme Rails(if those dont fit my POU then I'll swap 'em for the brilliant Larue FF rails), YM Chrome National match carrier
- Larue tactical Scope quick release mount, and a mid price range Nikon scope.

Praharin, what kind of performance are you getting from that 18" set up? Also, are you using a mid length or rifle length Gas system?

Rifle 1: Things that go bump in the night
Noveske N4 12.5 Crusader, coupled with an Aimpoint CompM4, Surefire light, VFG, and a good sling

Rifle 2: Coyote and smaller varminting
JP CTR-02 with US Optics glass and a Harris bipod (this is assuming fixed-position shooting such as P-Dog blasting; for walk-and-call activities I would likely get a nice midlength with an ACOG. Mk.4 CQT, or other midrange optic)

Rifle 3: Precision distance shooter capable of hunting deer+ sized game
KAC SR-25 Mk.11 Mod 0, full package

You never said I had to pay for it all!

Rifle 1:
POF 415 with aimpooint comp ml3 red dot and some manner of light-supressor so I/user and the people in the house don't go deaf

Rifle 2:
Colt 6601 with leupold mark AR glass, harris bipod, and free float 4-rail kit. timney trigger upgrade too.

Rifle 3:
POF P308 SPR with some manner of nightforce glass and a good sling and supressor, so hearing protection is not as necessary-kinda heavy for hunting, but it sure would be a great rifle

If you had the money, I don't know why you would stop at just 3 you can't even get a decent range of lengths much less calibers.
I guess if I had to pick 3 for the jobs that you listed they would be

1 If I had to use an AR for this it would be my 10.5” SBR, if we are talking about inside. If the bad guys were after me I would probably go sans suppressor as it makes the rifle long again and not as good for CQB, but my hearing is already shot and I’m not.

2 Depends on if I am moving (carrying) or shooting from a bench and how small of critters. If it were off a bench at dog town it would be a fat 24” barrel with 32X optics. If I had to tote it I would have a 20” barrel with either 3.5-10X or a 1-4X depending on what I'm after and where I am. If I’m after rabbits and squirrels a 16” .22lr would be my pick. The suppressors get more use here with the amount of shoots fired or just so you don’t have to be plugged.

3 For larger game the .458 socom does the trick in an AR15 but not at great distances for that the AR would be the AR10 in 308 with similar optics. Suppressed again as long as I am not hunting game animals.

Generally speaking without going into part numbers and brands

1- No AR here. It would be too risky with children (who are also armed in my house) likely to be moving about.
Make me build one and it will be light and fast with the shortest barrel I can legally put on it. A red dot sight would do with a light and laser. I would be hard pressed to pick a round I would feel safe using, so I can't say there. Probably a super fragile bullet in the .223 loaded as light as the action would allow.

2- I have this one a carbine length barrel with a float tube. Make it accurate enough for the longer shots (300yds around here) and sight it for MPBR. If it is to be a "truck gun," a collapsible buttstock for easier storage makes sense.
I like a low magnification scope for this area. I like the diamond reticle and 1.5-5X I have as it makes quick shots possible. Back up sighting would take me as long to use so I won't mount any. But if night hunting were to come into play a flashlight and laser might go on.
Stick with a .223 as there is not a yote in the world it won't drop if you do your part. I like everything about the round in this arena.

3. Money is no object? I want an AR-10 stretched just enough to take one of the "mid-length" rounds; 257 Roberts or best of all a 7x57. Many younger shooters might doubt these rounds, but trust me they work. If not, I would settle for a .243Win, but never the .308 (personal preference).
For deer a 20" barrel would be right, but if I wanted to reach out there a 24" would go on. Nice and heavy to settle in, and stay on target after the shot. Probably fluted, but that is more for show in this case. Float it, and give this beast a muzzle brake and rear rest as well. The buttstock would need to be adjustable for pull and height.
A good mil-dot scope on this one maybe a 4-16 so as to leave it low enough for deer, but give it enough for the groundhog wayyyy out there.

*- Standard for all of these would be some gear like an over-sized latch on the charging handle. I would want a tuned trigger, a bipod, a good sling for my intended purpose, and my own loaded ammo.

with a light and laser

No way, why would I want them knowing where I am at. I can get a glass of water in the dark they don't know where they are why would you want them to know where you are?

If I were to build three ARs, they would likely not be for the specific niche purposes you listed. Still, I wouldn't mind having:

1) Mark 12 Mod 0 SPR clone in 5.56
2) 16" heavy barrel CAR, also in 5.56
3) 11 1/2" Commando in 9mm (with appropriate SBR tax stamp)
