Dear THR:
This thread speaks to the Glock 19 owners. I have been using Glock 19 since 1990 and so far I have yet to experience any failure. Amazing pistol that is simply ultra reliable. Not much for aesthetics, but when it counts it goes bang!

I want to ask and invite comments of other Glock 19 owners with respect their experiences.

Thanks

My gen 3 was stovepiping and tossing brass to my face and all over. It took Glock two times to fix it. New extractor and ejector. Runs fine now.

Gen4 G19.... thousands of rounds, generally cheapo Blazer Aluminum 115gr. Not a single failure to do anything, ever. Dead-on accuracy and reliability. Only Glock that I still own after a Gen1 17, Gen3 26, and 22 RTF2 (a great gun, by the way).

My Glock 19 is very new to me, so I can't reasonably or accurately answer your poll.

However, I carried a 26 that I bought from my buddy for a few years, and he bought it back from me just recently. Between the two of us, it has ten years and a ton of ammo down it, and it has been pretty much everything you could want in a gun from a reliability standpoint. The same buddy has owned several other Glocks, of all different models, and has pretty much settled on a Glock in .40 (I forget the model number, but its the .40 equivalent of the 19). Of all those models, none have given him problems.

So, as a result, while I cannot truthfully from the standpoint of specific experience answer your poll, I would be both shocked and quite disappointed if my new 19 gave me any issues. I bought it specifically because I wanted a dead nuts reliable pistol, and I expect nothing less from it.

One of my G19s is over 20 years old. It only had a couple of failures to feed when the recoil spring and magazine springs were worn out and needed to be replaced. The other is about 4 years old and it works every time. I've heard that Gen 4 models have had some reliability issues (don't know if that involved the G19 or not) but the Gen 2 and Gen 3 have been 100% for me.

G17 & 19 here no probs here except when using S&B primers, I suppose they're just too darn hard. Must use softer ones with their ammo cause never any problem. I picked them up at a gun show cheap back during the shortage so maybe they were seconds or something, cause never any FTF's out of the Beretta 92G...the Glocks just don't like 'em. My buddy's 17 didn't either.

2 3rd Gen 19s with about 1200 rounds through them. 100% reliable. Not 1 problem.

I have had one since 1998. It had issues with the magazine followers early on causing failures to feed the last round of a hollowpoint bullet, but Glock fixed that. It also broke a slide lock tab retention spring, causing the part to fall out and the slide, with the recoil spring and barrel still in it, to fly off the front of the frame and into the dirt. (Those parts still remained together even after hitting the ground.) But other than that, it eats ammo by the bushel. If you've never broken any part on a gun (or your car, or just about anything else), you haven't shot it enough.

I'm curious to hear from the people that voted for the last 2 poll options. I personally haven't had any issue with mine, but I've only run about 500 rounds through it so far.

17 years old and only two jams; a CCI shot round and a reload (this year). Still a daily carry. Plan to replace all springs this month as preventive maintenance.

Gen 2 Glock 19 new in 1994.
I have long ago lost count of the rounds through it.
It has been carried and fired A LOT!!!!
One failure EVER shooting S&B ammo.
Replaced striker spring, trigger return spring, & recoil spring and no issues in 1000 + rounds since!!!!
Awesome 9mm pistol...have a 3rd Gen also but the Gen 2 is the one that gets used.

I voted #2. MY g19 gen4 has been perfect. Except when I first started reloading. The loads were light and stove piped sometimes. Maybe 1 in 100. Got the loads right and the gun runs perfect.

I also chose #2...shooting ammo that wasn't strong enough to cylce several other 9mms was the only problem I have had with mine. 850 rounds through it so far.

Have an FNP with 1200 through it and it has had a single hiccup, and that was also on bad ammo with the bullet seated crooked.

Believe it or not, my Glock 19 (Gen 2) does have issues when it gets dirty....

I have also had a malfunction when it was clean as well: I had a feral dog moving towards me and when I went to fire all I got was a *click*...light primer strike....

got an early gen 4 glock 19, and had occasional failures to eject and had issues of brass hitting my head, but after replacing the ejector and rsa, no problems since.

I've put approximately 10k rounds of cheap Russian 9mm through my G 19 with apx. 5 jams. All but one was due to a cheap Korean G 17 magazine causing a stove pipe. The remaining jam was probably caused by me not putting the slide release spring back in perfectly.

In sum I have had Zero malfunctions with unfiddled with OEM parts despite shooting thousands of filthy rounds.

Gen 3, @ 3000 rounds with not a single issue. Including trying to induce issues with limp wristing. I feed it Federal, Rem and Win brass-decent practice ammo.

I have a Gen 2 and Gen 3 and both have been very reliable every time... love them...

Gen 2 G19 that I bought used. No issues, and I rarely clean it. Probably 3000+ rounds through it, and I clean it every 500 rounds or so.

.....I can even go this far in stating that even among the people I know who Glocks, I have not seen any jams. The time I hear of jams in Glocks is on the internet forums or youtube reviews.
