For my Marine brothers and sisters-or anyone else who wants to see....

I shouldn't have read it at work, either.

This is the sort of thing that makes me wish that there was something I could say that's as simple and yet singularly meaningful as the "Semper Fi" that the Marines can offer to each other.

But as someone who has never put on a uniform, I guess all I can say to those who have is: Thank you.

Thank you for posting.

The only thing I can do is say thank you to all those who serve and be the
best citizen I can be. Without them, I would not have that opportunity.

My dad was a WWII Army vet, and when it was my time to serve, I chose the Army as well.

But there is something truly special about Marines. This story sums it up better than anything else I've ever seen. To all of you who've worn the Globe and Anchor, you have my utmost respect and admiration.

Lt. Cathey

A very moving story. It is obvious that the Cathey's truly loved each other..It brought tears to my eyes. Thank you for the link.....

+1 for "shouldn't have read it at work" I guess I'll excuse my puffy eyes by saying my allergies are acting up.

I couldn't finish it -- but I bookmarked it and will.

To all the Devil Dogs and other servicemen out there:

Thank You!

(that just never sounds like enough . . .)

That was damn heart wrenching. Well written, and intimate. Thanks to the families who allowed us insight into a painful time of their lives.
