Everyone discuss the mods you did to your ruger 10/22 rifle..
Post pictures and descriptions!

[Im looking for ideas for my new ruger 10/22;)]

I put mine in a thumbhole stock, put on the fluted heavy barrel and the drop-in trigger. Doesn't work any better but it looks good.

At first I got a Weaver scope rail and a BSA red dot. Then I trashed the red dot and picked up a 4x Bushnell scope (that I can't find anymore) with some cheap QD rings. Then I got an ATI Dragunov stock for it, then decided I didn't like it and now use the stock for test camo's.

It's been in plain ol' stock carbine form for awhile now. I had a UTG Extended Mag release, but even after numerous filings, it still interfered with my Auto Bolt Release, just the other day I got a Bell and Carlson mag release and it is much, much better and hasn't caused my bolt to hold open during a course of fire.

Now, I picked up some sandpaper to free float the barrel channel and file a little of the barrel band to give me a free float. I will post some results when I am done in my process of turning a stock 10/22 into an accurate Appleseed Trainer.

Later I will install some sling swivels and Tech Sights. Also I am getting more Butler Creek Hi Cap Mags, they seem to work really well.

So you see, I wanted to turn it into a tacticool plinker but it didn't feel right. So after throwing a little money into the pit, I have reverted back to its classic lines. But when I was spending money on junk, I was young and hadn't even heard of THR yet.

I've got three, here's two of them. The green one was a stainless/laminate carbine that I turned into my midnight marauder rifle. It has a Tapco stock, milled Volquartsen picatinny rail turned backwards mounted over a Tech Sights rear peep, a Millett 1-4x in Warne rings, Superior Concepts charging handle, weaponlight, V-Tac sling and olive drab finish among other things. Works perfectly for what I built it for.

The second is an LTR I built from scratch a few months ago. Started with a Nodak receiver and rear peep sight, Rimfire Tech accurized bolt, Clark 21.5" midweight barrel, Revelation stock, Brownells Competitor Plus 1907 sling and Power Custom-outfitted trigger group robbed from my Charger. It now has a KID 14oz trigger group and piles Wolf MT into 3/4"@100yds. Shot a best score of 242 at my first Appleseed with Federal bulk.

You realize for the amount of cash you put into the top rifle, you could have just bought the AR15?

that first one looks sick bro! im getting a tapco stock on mines too but its going to be black.. heres my ruger with no mods on it..

ill post an after pic after i get enough peoples responses on this thread..i plan on taking a little bit of everyones ruger builds from this thread and built my own nice modded ruger from your ideas! so keep them coming boys/girls!

I plopped mine in a Fajen Legacy adjustable stock, added a few internal mods (trigger, mag release, extractor, et al), Harris bipod, sling, a 1-pc. scope mount/rings, and a Centerpoint 4-16x40mm scope. I also added a .17HM2 conversion kit, but that has since been removed (back to .22LR).

The only mods that are readily apparent on mine is a set of tech sights and a 2" section of weaver rail on the left side of the forearm where I sometimes mount a Streamlight TLR-1.

I also polished and beveled the bolt, polished the guide rod, did the bolt release modification, stoned the hammer a bit for a slightly lighter trigger pull, drilled the back of the receiver so I can run a cleaning rod from breech to muzzle, free-floated the barrel, then added a pressure pad near the tip of the forearm. It cycles beautifully with any ammo now, including the Aguila 60 gr. SSS.

Not a very good photo, but here you go...

Other than the stock, barrel, scope and straight leg trigger I used all oem parts that I modified for this build.

I built this Krinker plinker kit several years ago. great plinker with 30 round TI mags.

I left this International model pretty much original, changed the rear sight and cleaned up the trigger and bolt.

I switch off between the factory stock and a folding Butler Creek model. Also added a Weaver K2.5 scope and Uncle Mike sling swivels to the wood stock. Slight edge to the wood stock in the accuracy department, with CCI MiniMags and Wolf Match Target the ammo of choice.

Love those International models! Wouldn't change a thing on them. Thanks for sharing.

All I needed was a .22LR, not a .223. I already had the carbine gathering dust. I wanted to build exactly what I needed out of what I had and do a little machine work. Anybody can buy an AR-15. Yeah, I could've bought one for what I spent on the whole project but then I'd still have to outfit it with a foregrip, light and scope for $400 above the cost of the rifle. I surely couldn't have outfitted it with backup iron sights for $65!

I have a pile of them, my Clark is the most accurate the one in the photo below is the one I shoot most often with a QD suppressor.

No pics, but the SAW kit someone traded me, cost the guy$400, and was grossly missadvertized! The kit is basicly a SAW airsoft body with a 10/22 stuffed inside. It looked great in the picture, guy had $900 invested with a threaded bull barrel, new 10/22, send the original stock, but man what a POS! The front sight was plastic, and fell off unpacking the thing. Do yourself a favor and stay away from the SAW kits.;)
This is the company http://www.tacticalimageguys.com/Tactical Image Guys/index.htm

Only thing Ruger on it is the magazine

X-Ring Reciever
Tactical Solutions Barrel & Comp
Raptor Stock
Volquartsen trigger group
Leupold PRW 30mm rings
Mueller APT 4.5-14

dont have a pic at the moment but i added a hogue overmold stock a butler creek barrel .920 diameter 20 inch also got the auto bolt release so it doesnt hang up like the dumb factory one does and an extended magazine release of course a bolt buffer to keep it from beating itself up on the inside added fishing weights in the buttstock to balance the rifle and take away the forward heavy feel did some shim work in the trigger assembly and it breaks reliably and smoothly but didnt change the pull weight because sometimes kids fire my 10/22 and dont want a light trigger
i also polished the inside of the reciever once the paint started to flake
added a scope sling and bipod but those dont really count
future mods im looking at maybe changing the trigger group and bolt to one from kidd getting a better scope mount rings and scope along with monopod on the buttstock

if you want to see some really neat builds look up rimfirecentral.com they have a whole section dedicated to 10/22 builds

This is one of the 10/22's I built a few years ago. It was sold to buy my AR15 but it is still one of the banner rifles on Rimfire central.

Mine has the trigger worked, a LW fluted .920" barrel and Weaver mount added by Clark Custom and later restocked by me. The Weaver 3x9 in this picture is now replaced with a 6x20. It shoots sub .5" @ 50 with Wolf MT and will hold a consistant inch at 100 if the wind co-operates and I haven`t been heavy in the coffee pot.
Sorry this is the only pix I`ve got of it at the present, I know it`s not the best.
