I searched but couldn't find an answer. If a weapon is on an approved Form 1, and the owner moves to a non-NFA state, what updated address should the F1 have on it--the original address, or the storage facility's(bank safe deposit box) in the NFA state? Has anyone here ever had this problem?

You have to dump the item with the ATF or sell it through a CLIII dealer before moving to a "non-NFA" state.

You could store it however, it will just cost a lot of money.. unless you went the trust route and any of the Trustees can hold the item legally if they live in an NFA legal state. You just have to notify the ATF and they will have you fill out a form to allow it to leave the state you are in (if your Trustee is not in your current state). If they are in your current state you don't need to do anything and they can hold it just like you do. Thats why the Trust route is the best option.

I personally would just not move to the non-nfa state. I will never live in them as I have thousands in NFA firearms. Its a life choice to live free and without oppression. Make the decision for yourself.

You could look into dual residency.

You'll need a lawyer to try that.

or the storage facility's(bank safe deposit box)

Might be careful with that one too. Read the fine print on your safe deposit box rental agreement. Lots of them exclude firearms.

By that logic shouldn't you move out of the US, so you can avoid registration and buy new post-86 machine guns? Maybe somewhere in Africa where AK-47s are sold on the street for a few dollars...

The other option is to store it in the state where that type of firearm IS legal. The catch is that only the registered owner may have access. The ATF details this on the FAQ section of their website./

No that is not logic at all. I don't mind paying the $$ to own NFA firearms. LOL I just will not live in a state that prohibits me to do so.

Here are a couple black firearms in my collection that I refuse to give up anytime soon to live in CA or the slums of Chicago.
