For $500, which to me is too much for a used mass produced pistol, but the thing is damn near mint.

HH date code puts it at 1977 if I'm not mistaken, and it looks as if it was fired a few times and put back in a box. Some wear on the barrel finish, but otherwise like new.

It's a Euro style mag, which isn't my favorite but just a cool old classic pistol.

48 hr wait to pick it up here in WI, but looking forward to it.

My only worry is finding flush fit P220 mags as the newer mags with the bumper at the bottom will not click into the mag well..

I have HH series Sig P220 as well. The grips were broken so I replaced it with new rosewood ones. Too bad the mag release is on the bottom.

I had the Browning BDA version of it nearly 30 years ago. Great gun which was incredibly accurate and reliable. Also one of the softest shooting .45's I have ever found.

I too have the Browning BDA with heel mag catch, almost new, in the box, as well as a 1996 vintage W. German P220 Sig with US-style mag release.
From my experience, regular US-mag release magazines will fit and work just fine providing they are the flat-bottom mags; I have some nice glossy blued Mec-Gar mags that I've devoted to the Euro release gun. The only difference is the US-style mags have the notch cut in the mag body for the side catch.

Also from my experience- don't waste your money on Pro-Mags. Carefully examining Gunbroker and eBay and even these forums can sometimes reveal bargain-priced Mec-Gar or factory Sig mags (Usually made by Mec-gar).

I still kick myself for not buying the Browning BDA in .38 Super, along with the 9mm. version back then. I can remember seeing them getting dusty on dealer's shelves with near discount prices on them because they just weren't selling. My guess is just not that many people knew about the .38 Super round and weren't all that interested in a full size single stack 9mm.

Of course I didn't have the money at the time to buy them but still it would have been nice to have all three models.

Had a BDA back when they first came out. Have an original mag in good shape with no slot. Not used much. Will sell . PM me we can work something out if you are interested

I have a '79 Browning BDA in .45 ACP. Essentially same gun as yours.

$500 for that pistol in mint condition is well worth it. Good find.

Thanks for the info, and a bit of relief on the mags!

Haven't picked it up yet, it's on layaway as I plan on ditching my "repaired" XDS to use as a trade in towards the Sig. Managed to find a really nice used S&W Shield which is now my new favorite 9mm/carry pistol over the XDS so, hopefully it arrives within 30 days so I can get the paperwork done on the P220.
