So I was browsing through the local grocery store when I noticed an asile over by the liquor department that I had never seen before.

This asile was absolutely packed with ammo! They had a better selection than the local box store (read wal-mart).

They had cases available for almost every common cartridge.

They even had 500 round and 1000 round boxes of wolf ammo and 500 round boxes of 9mm luger wolf ammo. The price was reasonable on the wolf ammo.

I dont think this is common for most grocery stores, anyone else have similar grocery stores?

I wish...

When I was a kid they all did, hell my 1st gun was from one. Now day if you can find bait at them your lucky,

Back when I lived in Colorado Springs there was a Long's Drug Store that sold Liquor, Ammo, Firearms, Reloading Supplies and of course medications. The prices were not that bad. One time I was in there with a friend who had needed to pick up her medication and while we waited for it to be filled I wandered around and ended up picking up a few boxes of ammo and a handle of rum.... So her and I are standing in line with prescription drugs, ammunition and booze when an older gentleman behind us says "Looks like you girls are in for a fun weekend".
We just smiled and tried to contain our laughter until we left the store. =)

i dont know about grocery stores, but some of the smaller towns up in the hills here will have small general store that sell all that stuff. lost a heater hose on my way to bend last season and i stopped at a hardware store for a pipe fitting to splice in, they had a few old rifles and a couple shotguns behind the cash register, and ammo and reloading components.

There's a little convenience store in my town that sells groceries, bait, tackle, ammo, hunting clothes, ... But damn! A full fledged grocery store with an ammo aisle? That's pretty good!

It's both amusing and unnerving to see both guns and liquor advertised side-by-side.

It seems similar to advertising guns and ski masks together.

I went to the little gas station across the highway from me cuz they have bait... only place in town.

While I'm standing there paying for crawlers, I notice a little metal shelf to my left. They had three cases of Fed.Champion .22 ammo for $9.79 ea. That was yesterday. I bought them all. The guy said he was wondering when someone would notice that. :D

I remember the (what we refered to as) "7-11", although that was not the name. It was on the edge of town in Canton MS and it sold everything including ammo.

Those were good times!

What part of SD are you from? Spent some time in the Vermillion/Yankton area years ago. :) I remember that all the convience stores and gas stations sold ammo in those days.

My first gun was from Walgreens!

About 20 years ago, when I first moved to Wyoming full time, there was an IGA grocery store in Cody that had a small area with guns, ammo, reloading supplies, and hunting stuff. They had more guns and useful things than many gunshops in the area. I bought a gun there once(Smith .44), after doing the paperwok, the manager took the gun to the checkout conveyor and the checker girl ran it down the conveyor, punched in the info, and I paid for it. The receipt was a regular (old skinny style) IGA grocery receipt that said "Gun", with the price and tax. Ended up trading the gun off, but kept the receipt for grins.

There are a few hardware stores and gas stations around Wy and Montana that have guns, ammo and other useful things.

We have an Ace Hardware that carries ammo. Double the price of WalMart and they're mainly limited to basics like hunting and handgun calibers...but it's there.

Now which grocery store is this?

My friend was visiting his brother in prison, and gassed up at a truck stop down the road, where in a case they sold knives at one end, and ski masks at the other.

There is a gunshop/gas station in the boonies, I have been meaning to buy a pistol, some beer, and a girlie mag and see if I can have it all on one receipt.

Oh, thank God...I've been looking for that hole in the space-time continuum to go back and invest some money in Yahoo and Google, and it has moved to South Dakota! I've been looking all over the Southeast because I saw a guy here the other day wearing a yellow leisure suit. :D

I remember that Long's Drugs in Old Colorado City, all the women that worked the gun counter were over 50 and took S--t from NOONE. And they knew guns. I bought most of my guns there. I was devestated when they went out of business.

you know its funny you mention that... I use to work in a gun store, we had 3 "gang bangers" come into the store, 2 were looking at hand guns and the 3rd was trying on ski masks... that was the 1st time I ever unsnap my holster.

Big 5 did or does sell long guns as well as ski masks. I found it interesting also that when I was in the USN I was issued a ski mask in boot camp.

As a kid growing up in Massachusetts you could buy .22s and shot gun shells in most any hardware store. That shows you how old I am. :D

I bought several guns at Coast-To-Coast and Gambles hardware years ago....Ahhh the good old days. Now the big one, do you remember when J.C. Pennys and Sears had gun counters?

My first Nylon 66 was "acquired" with Top Value stamps Mom used to get from Krogers. The Top Value Stamp center had everything!!

A lumber company close to the Ohio River sells firearms, reloading supplies, archery stuff, and hunting clothes. A very large selection of everything.
