Found a Revolver

Generally a extra cylinder needs to be fitted and timed to a revolver. H&R must have made these in the .22 Mag offering later than 1970 as the picture below comes from the 1970 Guns Digest and doesn't mention the magnum option.

I once owned a Ruger Single Six with the .22 mag cylinder and at 6X the cost of the LR ammo, magnums where seldom shot.

That is a different gun. Mine is a model 649, that is a model 949. So any time I want to change the cylinder I have to take it to a gunsmith? If so, that is a pain in the ass.

I think what Steve C meant was the extra mag cylinder would have to be fitted to your revolver (initially), as to ensure that it fits and indexes properly with your gun. After that, it should be easy enough to swap out cylinders yourself. I'm somewhat sure that your 649 was available as a convertible at some point in its production.

I once found an old 22 autopistol I forgot I had in an old shooting bag. It must have been there at least 5 years.
