...but then i got it home and looked at it.

a box shaped like a half pint milk carton. 200 rounds of CCI "clean" 40 grain, 1235 fps. poly coated. and the bullets are green, tan, or black. what the thinking behind that might be i can't imagine. but it was $18. i left the store thinking i should have bought 4 boxes. i'm glad i didn't, now.

when i got it home, i had to see what a green bullet looks like so i opened the carton. i found that the bullets actually rock back and forth on the case. very tiny amount, but it definitely moves.

i'm doubtful this is going to perform well in a semi 22 pistol, but i guess i'll find out. or is this normal? my other 22lr's don't do that.

It's not unusual for bulk .22 to behave like that, as long as it is slight. (I've seen some that were like little toggle switches, which isn't good).

You can't expect match grade accuracy from it, but it most likely will go "pop" and make little holes fairly close to what you were pointing it at.

I've never had an issue with any CCI product. They all go bang when needed, and are accurate enough to put meat on the table. Personally I wouldn't worry about it and would be ecstatic that I found ammo that cheap!

It's just for marketing. They've done Green and Red for Xmas. Red, White and blue for the 4th of July. The bullets have a powder coat layer baked on. It's all the rage among people who cast their own bullets. Any color is available. You can do pink and purple for your significant other...

They are probably fine. Our local Walmart hasn't had any ammo in over a year. It hasn't stopped me from at looking every time I go there.

The nice thing is when your local Walmart does have 22lr ammo in stock its usually about $.05 a round which is nice. Online they still want $.10 per round. I have lucked out a few times at my local wall world. One time I picked 2 1000 packs for about $.05 per round.

The key is to know when your local Walmart gets it shipments in and politely ask if there is any ammo in the shipment.

Walmart carries the fed target 325 box for 18 ish dollars. That is a better price and I grab some every time they are available. I wish I had a lot more but they go fast.

OP bulk bullets imo are 3 moa ish bullets. The standard velosity and mini mags are 1.5 ish. My favorite are the wolf match and I havent seen those in over a year.

My local Walmart had 5 boxes of 333 round Winchester .22LR. Also had about 15 boxes of 50 round CCI Standard Velocity. I didn't buy any, as I have plenty to last a very long time. I did, however, tell my buddy who is short.

I have gone through a few buckets of Remington Golden Bullets. All of the bullets spin and rock in the brass.
Not my favorite 22LR but they shoot great in my 10/22. It eats them up.

You’ll have to tell us how those powder coated 22LR shoot. When they first came to market a few years back, initial reviews were Meh.

i just hope it feeds.
You might be surprised to find it feeds better in your semi auto. One trick to get finicky rimfire semi autos to feed more reliably is to make the rounds more "slippery" by spraying them with silicone. It might be that the paint or whatever coats the casing serves the same purpose. Then ... on the other hand, if it's a flat finish it might do the opposite. Keep us posted!! ;)

I just checked 5 different brands of .22 ammo and can get a little wiggle out of every one I grabbed from the boxes. Even the Eley CMP Match stuff.

To be perfectly honest with the stock of .22s I have to say one is that much more accurate than the others is academic......36gr, 40gr, lead, fmj, jhp even match solids.....granted, purchased over 40yrs at 50yds, in a rifle, its damn hard to pick one....at 25yds with a pistol same deal.....its a .22 for chrissakes.....1/2~2" moa....scope v iron sights.

I purchased three boxes of “Herters” .22 LR (I did not know that Herters offered .22 ammo) 100 count at $8.99 per. All other calibers of Herters that I have purchased/ used in the past seemed like quality fodder. I am anxious to shoot it and see how it performs. PS, when I checked out, the cashier told me that I could purchase five more boxes if I wished (being a Cabelas Club member) - I am not used to being offered more ammo than I want these days - that felt like welcome strangeness!

Be careful what you snap up. Last time there was a .22 shortage, all sorts of strange things came out of the woodwork, especially standard velocity target stuff.
One of the guys over on the Walther board managed to score a bunch of .22 Long (not Long Rifle). The 29 grain bullets wouldn't cycle an auto.

On that bullet wiggling thing, I'm thinking maybe the bullets are loaded warm and then shrank on cooling off to room temp. With the dimensions involved, it would't take much shrinkage to have them get a little loose. Didn't do any calculations, but it strikes me that's possible.

"...with the dimensions involved...":

A couple of tenths on a .45 bullet is effectively different than a couple of tenths on a .tiny 22 bullet.

Just noodling that around since we're talking about noodley bullets.
