I like it. It's kind of buggy, REALLY HUGE and a little tricky to figure out at times but it's a great resource and I love supporting free and/or open source software.

I have no qualms with anyone modifying or using data from RR as long as it isnt for commercial use. Feel free to make PDFs of the data or alter the form in any way you see fit, as long as it remains available and free.

Wiljen, thanks for the email and your work on the RR project!

The pdf for all of rifle/shotgun/pistol load data would be too big even for pdf so will look at condensing load data for most popular pistol/revolver calibers for now with some additional information.

Well I have no ides how to make this work I dowladed the file but it will not open on my system. I have MS office 2007 but it will only show code and very little of that. Am I missing somthing ?

blindhog1964, did you download all the files or just the initial RR - readme file?

The Reloaders_Reference/9.3x74r - Final folders/files (10 files) total 1.6 GB of data

I dowloaded all the files except for the readme files. When I try to open them it opens in word but wants to convert the file and asks which encoding makes it look right but none of them do.

Ah, the very idea why the internet was created in the first place(for widely sharing information such as this).
And not just for buying junk on ebay and looking at porn. lol. ;)

When I select Loading Data\Main Load Data\By Cartridge and Bullet Weight I get no info no matter which bullet or weight I select. It works fine if I select By Cartridge or Cartridge and Powder. Is anyone else having the same problem?

I downloaded all of the programs and installed.

I get an error message saying it cannot open an .mdb file. This appears to be a file that opens with Microsoft Access. I have the Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007 suite of programs which does not include Access.

Looks like a really good set of applications, but I don't have the $400 to spend on the professional Microsoft Office package which includes the Access application.

Any work around?

MKL... you may be able to get this to work with Open Office... it is a free product, and so far I have not had any interoperability issues with MS products, though DB's are tricky.

google "office 2010 pro beta"

or something like that--and download the newest ACCESS free.

It does require you to sign up for the Microsoft Beta program--but AFAICT, there are no significant bugs to worry about. Be sure to download the PRO version; that's the one with Access in it.

So far, it loads up and works, although there are some 'content' warning signs. I haven't explored further yet, mostly because my Access knowledge is now twelve years old, and I gotta bone up a bit--

Wow!

I'm impressed!

Thanks for all the work that has gone into it!

I couldn't imagine a better, more complete, FREE reloading program.

Just one question though, Where do I download the targets and stuff? I cant seem to find them...

As interesting as this project seems ... I guess one has to be a lot more technically savvy than I am. I downloaded all the files, tried to run the executable (rrv93x74r.exe), and got an error. Ran all the individual executables(Manuala-f,g-m, n-s, t-z), then tried the main executable, and still got nothing ("This file contains invalid data").

I guess I'm just meant to stick with the printed manuals instead.

Read the Readme Text files you have to change some settings in security.

Windows Vista Notes:

I have recieved some messages from users having trouble running this package on Vista. Vista's default security settings will not allow users to change files in the \program files path. This is what creates the problems. 1 be patient with the install, it is slow, but will complete even on vista. 2. follow the instructions below to change the permissions on the Reloaders Reference folder

to allow user writes to the files.

1.) Open c:\program files and right click the Reloaders Reference folder.

Note: on x64 systems this will be the Program Files (x86) folder.

2.) Choose properties from the drop down menu.

3.) On the properties tab, choose security.

4.) On the security tab, click the advanced button at the bottom of the tab.

5.) In the advanced tab, click users in the list, then edit.

6.) In the permissions dialog, click the Allow box on the top line (Full Control) then click ok.

7.) When it returns to the Advanced tab, check the replace all existing box at the bottom of the tab and click ok.

8.) Click ok again to return to the security screen.

9.) Click users in the top window and look at the permissions in the bottom portion, full control should now be checked.

10.) Click ok to close the security dialog.

RR should now run without the read-only or linking problems.

Windows 7 Notes:

1.) Open c:\program files and right click the Reloaders Reference folder.

Note: on x64 systems this will be the Program Files (x86) folder.

2.) Choose properties from the drop down menu.

3.) On the properties tab, choose security.

4.) On the security tab, left click to highlight "users" under the "Group or user's names".

5.) Below the "Group or user's names" box you will see, "To change permissions, click EDIT". Left click the edit button.

6.) That will open another dialog box, "Permissions for Reloader's Reference". Again left click to highlight "users" in the "Group or user's names" box.

7.) Below that box, you will see another, "Permissions for Users". Click the "full control" allow button. It will automatically check all the boxes except "Special Permissions". Leave that box unchecked.

8.) Click the "Apply" button in the bottom left hand corner.

9.) Click "Okay" and the "Permissions for Reloaders Reference" dialog box will close.

10.) Click "Okay" at the bottom of the "Reloaders Reference Properties" dialog box.

I tried the instructions in the readme file last night, and was still getting the error. Tried again today and still couldn't get it to work. I think I'll try it on my office PC running XP rather than mine at home using Vista.

Looking forward to seeing how the program works!

Once again, Where do I download the targets and other extras?

It just keeps sending me to the main download page for the whole file...

Very Nice!

Installed in on my work PC w/ WinXP and it works fine. I spent a little time looking over what's included and was very impressed.
