from the college came into the shop the other day, I work in a archery gunshop, he was a "world class archer" according to the man he was with. The thing that he was impressed with was our rake of guns (shotguns and rifles) and the four display cases of pistols. He said " how do you keep these guns from hurting someone". Now that is a completely indoctranated man who believes what the liberals shovel out.
I ask him about his opinion of CCW he looked shocked as I showed him my 45 that i carry. His statement was clasic "what if you go crazy and start shooting everyone?" Now that is a man who has been feed ---- all his life no wonder they couldn't resist the Germans any longer.
Why did I tell you this story well this is what is being fed to our college kids and that is why we better get busy or we will lose our rights by default.

this is not the case of liberal, but this is the case of the French.
where did you hear about this is being fed to our college kids? i don't think that's true.
i go to university, they don't teach that guns are bad and i'm in DPRK, they just don't want you to carry it while you're at school. of course there are left wing extremist that guns are the evil as well as right wing extremist that everyone should be armed.
i guess i'm in the middle.

did the french guy carry a white flag with him? :D

...this is what is being fed to our college kids...
Hmmm - I seem to have missed out on this part of the curriculum here at Purdue. And I think a lot of my friends did too. :)

You know, France, despite some restrictions, has more of a gun culture than, say, England. People there own and shoot guns, I think IPSC has some popularity.

I don't think naive opinions come from attending college or even being French. They can also be changed if addressed properly.

There is a considerable gun culture in France, just that they are an even smaller minority than gun folks in Boston.

My response to that is generally along the lines of "If you're so concerned about it, why aren't you carrying a gun to protect yourself?"

I don't think this is a matter of being French so much as it is simply being uneducated/miseducated.

One of the ladies I work with is by no means an anti. She doesn't know hardly anything about guns and doesn't own any, but is very interested in shooting, and will probably be a gun owner sometime in the next 6 months or so (I've discussed the whole 4 rules thing and other things every gun owner should know ... I'll probably help her pick out a handgun).

She's asked my what kind of license she'll need to own a gun, and when I've showed here pictures of AR-15s and AK-47s she was surprised that even the semi auto ones are legal.

This from a woman who has lived in either Colorado or Texas all her life! :what:

This is one reason why gun control is so easy to get past the people ... most think we already have tight gun control so they don't notice when new gun control gets past.

:banghead:

I was threatened with expulsion when I mentioned that I'd been thinking of bringing a handgun to keep in my room (and I was an RA with my own room.) After that, I just kept quiet about the fact that I'd already brought one.

Later, one of my fellow RAs confronted a local teenager who claimed to have a pistol. He threatened her when she told him to leave, and instead of letting him go, she chased him out the door. Now, if the guy who claims to have a gun wants to leave, I'd let him, personally. But I also wrote a letter to the school paper about the incident and talked privately to a lot of school officials and fellow staff. My feeling was that those students so inclined should be allowed to arm themselves, and at a bare minimum, the school's rent-a-cops should be trained and allowed to carry firearms, at least on an optional basis.
I lost a LOT of "friends" over that one, although the head security guy was a lot more accommodating from then on. I didn't know he'd been banging his head against the same wall since before I enrolled.

Trust me, the anti-gun liberal college campus is alive and well. This was Monmouth, an hour's drive from Springfield Armory, Armalite, Rock River Arms, Les Baer, and the Rock Island Armory. Made no difference.

It wasn't just guns, either. I still remember the wildly popular Econ/business professor who just about lost his job and a few teeth over the "Hate Crimes Vigil" presided over by our liberal chaplain outside the library. They invited him to speak about hate crimes because he told them he had first-hand experience to share. He told the story of his brother who had been beaten nearly to death by a mob of Disadvantaged African-American Youth one summer night for no apparent reason (that was their story when some were caught--"I dunno why.") He's a white guy.

He was nearly attacked that night and left in a hurry. Over the next five weeks or so, until the Christmas break started, there was debate all over campus. A less popular man would have been fired summarily, I firmly believe, but this guy was amazingly well-liked by all his students. I had honestly never heard a bad word about him before the incident. Afterward, you could always find someone at whatever gathering you tried who thought he was a dirty racist SOB who ought to be fired and then tarred and feathered. All because he had the temerity to respond to a call for a story about a "racially-motivated, hateful crime of violence" with the story of the time a bunch of black kids beat up one white kid for no reason.

We must revive and preserve the "gun culture" of America, of which I am a proud member. Perception is reality. Proudly being part of the gun culture is mainstream to us. We must work to make it seen as mainstream once again. This is a challenge, since, from our perspective, we are not trying to impose our views on others, we just want to be left alone. :fire:

Freedom requires as much active maintenance as does tyranny. Maybe this concept could be more eloquently stated by someone else.

Go easy on him, and become his friend. Care for him, if he's sick, bored, lonely, etc. ask him if he needs anything.

I learned that instead of debating with people I usually show them I'm a decent person and have them realize we're not all nuts like they would think.

As for going crazy and shooting everybody, it's possible yeah. But no different from driving on the other side of the highway and causing a 30-mile long pileup. Possible yes, Easy, yes, but...seems to be happening a lot less than they would think.

The liberal college even in conservative states is alive and well.

Some seething liberal throwbacks spout some of the worst propaganda but those have been largely replaced with truely indoctrinated automatons.

These newer college professors will not even consider or discuss the role of firearms in law abiding civilian hands. When studying the constitution the second amendment is ignored, glossed over or when a student asks the second is called outdated, irrelevent and not by any means valid.

The college texts do not discuss the topic of gun control other than to make broad sweeping unchallenged weasel statements like:

"although handguns have always been a tremendous problem in the United States, common sense gun control legislation has yet to be enacted.

or:

"Many countries do not allow their citizens to own dangerous weapons and rates of gun violence in those countries are very low compared to the US."

Being a sociology / psychology major almost every single textbook
mentioned the "gun problem"

In my opinion kids with little experience with guns or who have never been exposed to shooting are being systematically and insidiously brainwashed on our college campuses.

he was a "world class archer"
"what if you go crazy and start shooting everyone?"
What's the difference between guns and archery rquipment? Its the same difference. They both allow the user to launch projectiles that if misused could be deadly.

Is it just that the guns speak to weak minded people and tell them to kill more than a recurve bow would? For that matter, how about that steak knife? Is that safe in your hands or is it going to make you plunge it into someone's chest all on its own?

Weak minds and uneducated fear is a bad combo.

My daughter is in Jr. High school. The teachers speak of bad guns. When this certain little girl hears the word gun, she screams. I told my daughter never bring this screamer to our home.

Both of my children shoot with the wife and I.

Back when I was in college (late 80's) neither the University nor any of my professors, nor the students had any comment whatsoever about firearms, other than the rulebook stating that they weren't allowed on campus.

NJ residents have a blind spot about guns. The assume they don't exist, but are easy to obtain legally. They're wrong on both counts.

Yohan, I think you missed my point. We're not talking about criminals here. The French student thinks an average ordinary Joe is just gonna start blasting away all of a sudden because there are guns available. I'm saying he could start flinging arrows all of a sudden from the nearest bell tower if that was what he was already precluded to do.

It was kinda funny though picturing some Robbin Hood type at the local Stop-n-Rob...:D

There is plenty...

....of liberal BS being fed to college students. Every student who goes to college, even "conservative" ones, will get a load of it.
its a fact
educate your kids so when they go to college, they think about what is said to them
teach them to look at both sides of the story
most of the gun control materials in my schools library are written by people with a major axe to grind.....
college profs, well some of them, have a nasty way of getting way more preachy than most high school teachers
college students may not get a load of anti gun crap, but liberal ideology is there, not every major, not every prof, but you cant avoid it

I did not say a thing about the college I was just amazed that anyone regardless of nationality would think an object would do anything on its own or that it would cause anyone to become evil just by touching it. The college he attends is very pro gun as I went there myself though it was 40+ years ago. If I said or implied that he got this from college I am sorry because all my children went there and they are very pro gun and all have CCW's themselves.

Depends greatly on the professor. I have a professor that has both an AR-15 and an M14 clone of some kind. He's also a vietnam vet. It's good that such a guy is teaching political science.

"Always deal with facts", he tells people.

The politically correct college to go to....

is Trinidad State Junior College in Trinidad, CO. It is one of the best gunsmithing schools in the country. Whe I went there in the 60's, every gunsmith student had a bunch of guns in his dorm room to work on and to take to class. I wonder what they do now or are things the same there. I'll have to check this out next time I am there on vacation.......chris3
