i want to give frog lube a try from my current hoppes 9 and hoppes
oil. but when i went to order there seems to be various products, and
it seems like they all do the same thing but i'm not possitive. can
someone help me out? i see pastes and all kinds of stuff. i like the
simplicity of Hoppes but want something better. i own a few firearms but not an armory or anything, so i dont need some use giant kit. a bottle of #9 and some oil seems like it lasts forever, and i clean after every range trip.

Get froggy on those tadpoles....

Many US gun shops and outdoor rec stores offer smaller sample size packets of FrogLube, www.froglube.com .
I purchased a 4 fluid oz bottle of CLP in 2014.
I just cleaned & checked my Glock 21 gen 04 .45acp & S&W Shield no thumb safety 9x19mm today with Froglube. I use Hoppes #9 Synthetic for the barrels. :D
IMO, for general cleaning/storage the liquid CLP Froglube should do fine.
Some gun owners & armorers advise heating the firearm metal surface so the fluid or grease can seep into the tiny pores but I don't get that detailed.
Use the Froglube in small amounts. Tiny bits are all you need for modern firearms. Some gun owners & hunters gripe about excessive amounts of Froglube that gob up or are tacky/sticky.
You don't need large amounts. The CLP does leave a slight sticky film but Id rather have that than rust or corrosion on my firearms.
Froglube has a light smell or odor too. Kinda like Pepto Bismal or Playdoh with a mint scent. The product is CFC free, non toxic & easy on your bare hands. ;)
Other than the great CLP/gun care product Ballistol, www.ballistol.com , I can see any CLP better than Froglube.

Seconded on how many people seem to gob on the FrogLube and then neglect to wipe off the excess. It's NOT a grease, don't smear it on like grease. Think of it more as a 'dry lube'.

My results with FrogLube were greatly enhanced when I followed the instructions: I heated surfaces with that indispensable gunsmithing tool - my wife's hair dryer. it appeared to improve the adhesion and the lubricating properties. I assume the heat expands the surface, allowing the FrogLube to penetrate, and causes the FrogLube to thin somewhat (conjecture on my part).

It works very well for me as a lubricant for pivots in folding knives, and the odor is "right tolerable", as Grandpa said.

There were samples of SLIP 2000 on my desk when I came in this morning, looking forward to trying it out.

You would expect the manufacturer to give a glowing review, but here's the link:

When I started doing firearms conservation, my instructor suggested I use Frog's Lube to remove the rust. I'd apply some and use a nickel to scrape at the rust. The patina remains untouched but the rust is gone.

Oh, the wife will probably not scream at you if you clean inside the house with it either. The lady who owns the local gun store loves it (probably because it doesn't smell like Hoppe's).

Parents...

One Internet video had a gunner state he likes FrogLube because he can clean weapons or tools around his small kids without worrying about fumes or toxic substances.... :D .
I also saw a clip of some hipster dare-devil brush his teeth with FL, .
That's not what I plan to do anytime soon.

Give Gunzilla a try, Use it on a weapon you have already cleaned, You will be surprised its hard to find but well worth it when you do.
Its all natural no fumes, Was told you could drink it, I wouldn't, But it does work
Use it a few times and clean up is a breeze, It just wipes off

...or nitride, melonite, or similar coatings. Several firearm manufacturers indicate to NOT use this product - as it is harmful to the coating.

Melonite?....

I've used both Froglube(liquid CLP) & Ballistol several times on 2 different M&P pistols with black "melonite".
Neither has shown any problems or scuffs, rust or wear  .
As both gun care products are all natural or non toxic Im not sure how or why it could harm a firearm surface.
I know nickel plated guns can be touchy :uhoh: but the black M&P melonite looks & shoots fine, ;) .

To my limited knowledge SIG Sauer, www.SIGsauer.com advises SIG customers to use either Miltec or Froglube.

I tried FL and went back to conventional oil and solvent. I thought the actions felt a little drier and less lubed with FL. That said, it probably works fine.

S&W forum posts: Froglube...l

I did some research and saw a web page of S&W M&P series owners discussing FrogLube(CLP & grease versions). About 15-18 members posted responses all + or praise of FrogLube products for S&W firearms.

Have a kit for Frog Lube to try it out. Has anyone used it on parkerized rifles?
