Is there a such thing as this? I could've sworn that I've seen a pic of a cobra or dick special where the factory blade sight was re cut or milled to accept an XS big dot front night sight.

Does anyone here know of anyone who offers such a modification and what it costs? Thanks for any help on this.

In the late 1980's Colt sold a limited production Detective Special with a luminous front side insert.
That one was actually a hole bored in the front sight with a Tritium capsule installed.

A non-Colt insert job I've seen was a Tritium insert in a dovetailed base that was installed by cutting a dovetail in the sight blade much like a red ramp sight insert.
The insert base was angled to put the Tritium insert at more a flat angle to the shooter.
However, these looked a little strange since the insert looked like a flat faced lump on the gun's sight and stuck up slightly.

It's possible to machine the late DS long ramp sight and install a big dot, but it takes some strong gunsmith/machinist skills.
I'd contact some of the sight companies and ask if they offer installation services for the DS.
If not, contact Cylinder & Slide Shop.
