I've got a RUGER mkII with a 10" barrel. When holding the gun in the shooting position,I noticed that the front sight is leaning to the right.(almost 1 o'clock position).I'm wondering if the hole for the sight screw, was drilled slightly off center of bore, or possibly the barrel has rotated inside the receiver.I'm gonna send it back to the factory, and have them fix it.I bought this gun new at my local dealer.Hope the repairs are covered by the warranty !! :uhoh:
Anybody have any ideas what the problem is.... THANKS

Donutman,

That's interesting. I had the same problem with a 5.5" bull-barrel MKII, that was crooked right out of the box. I sent it back to Ruger. They returned it, stating they had replaced the front sight and something else (I don't remember at this point).

Well, it came back and the front sight WAS STILL CROOKED. I sent it back and they replaced something else. When I got it back, it was STILL CROOKED. All this was being seen at the dealer and they all agreed the front sight was crooked each time (they were shipping it for me).

The third time I got it back it was fixed. BUT - it stated that they had replaced the receiver, the barrel, the front sight, the rear sight. I had to fill out a new yellow form, because of the new serial number on the replacement receiver.

Ruger did all this under warranty, but I was miffed that it took so many tries to do it.

Thanks SteveW13 ... I thought these things only happen to me. I guess I'm not the only one. It just really stinks when you pay the money for these guns, and they leave the factory with defects.Maybe they need to do better quality control at the factory huh ? :cuss:
I'm gonna have to send it back to them and see what they say.
How did you ship yours back ? Through the gun dealer ? I called different carriers (UPS/DHL etc..) They said that I had to send it by air shipment.(next day or 2nd day air). I guess because it is more secure that way. And some of them said they won't ship firearms.
Anyway thanks for the info...

Donutman,

I shipped mine through my dealer. That is a service they provide.

As for shipping it yourself, read the rules on the FedEx and UPS web sites. they do require them to be shipped overnight.
