I built a competition rifle using a .308 chambered Remington 700, and the Accuracy International AICS AX 2.0 chassis.
The chassis was desert tan, and had a desert tan 5-round magazine with it. I wanted to buy some new magazines for spares, and found some on ebay. I purchased a 10-round steel magazine (AI stamped, so not a knock-off).
It holds 11 rounds (interesting), and inserts into the chassis just fine. I have fed the rounds through the rifle, so it seems to work. But when comparing it to the 5-round mag that came with the rifle, there's a difference. There is a little tab on the front of the 5-rounder that latches the front of the magazine in the well, whereas the 10-rounder does not have that lip, and is a little more sloppy in the well.
I would like to buy a couple more mags, but am worried that the magazine I just bought is either an older style, or is in some way defective.
Is the lip a new development? Does it appear on only the 5-round mags? Should I be worried if the 10-round mags don't have it?
Pictures attached, showing the difference.
Thanks.
