Frustrated with my shooting of Gen 4 G17

What would be the cheapest way to bump it, without buying the tool or damaging the sight???

A Brass punch, is the cheapest. It wont mar the sight

Dry fire the pistol a few times while watching the front sight for movement. If it wiggles, you may have significant over travel. When I got my glock this was significant and I couldn't hit a pop can worth beans. Benching showed side to side spread, just like the wiggle.

I installed a rocket connector from ghost and this fixed the problem.

I shot it today. The experience was much better, but still not perfect. I had a friend bump it, then randomly lend me the tool. I'm about an inch or 2 high at 7 yards, with almost like a 10 shot large hole. I can except that for now. I'll shoot it, and adjust later. Perhaps.

Thanks again.

I didn't mess with my elevation. My windage is much closer, within an inch at 7 yards. The elevation seems to get better as the windage does. I will make final adjustments the next time I shoot it.

I have a deal worked out to trade it for a brand new cz75 steel framed. The problem is this was months ago,and the dealer says he can't find one. My real frustration is I don't like giving up on the glock.

I have a Gen3 Glock 17 and a CZ 75B. And as much as I like the Glock, if I want to shoot the best targets, I'm picking the CZ every time. The "dealer" is handing you a bunch of B.S. when he tells you he can't find a steel framed CZ 75B to trade with you, that should be a very easy trade to make with somebody who wants to do a deal with you. I think you would be better off with the CZ 75B.

I shot it today. I would say it's on. It is still maybe an inch high at 10 yards. The windage is dialed in. I put a whole magizine in an inch with one flier roughly 2 inches out. Likely the elevation is my fault. Besides, there are no up and down adjustments. Can't seem to post the photo.

Thanks again everybody.

Maybe drifting the rear sight will help? I have a MGW sight rear sight pusher and find it an invaluable tool either replacing sights or drifting them for custom sight picture alignment.

My G17 Gen 4 wanted to shoot a POI like the OP's. I love the simplicity of Glocks as they are easy for me to tinker with. The main improvement I made to mine was replacing the factory trigger with a ZEV Tech trigger. It cost a few coins but it was worth it to get a shooter out of the deal. Once I got the trigger adjusted to my liking, my POI settled right in place.

Note: I just saw your latest post. Glad you got the gun dialed in. Are you shooting factory loads or hand loads? That factor can account for at least some of your elevation POI.

The gun is on. I'm liking it. All the problems at once frustrated and confused me.

After I finely tuned the windage, which I had to do myself to get it done right, and should not have taken me as long, I remained high. I was hitting about an inch or so high.

Well I recently once again switched out another backstrap. I put on the largest sight. It seemed to correct my elevation. I put a whole magizine in a 3 inch target at 15 yards. That's certainly better than I was doing. I also consider it something to build on.

I still can more effortlessly shoot smaller groups with my other hand guns, but I atleast trust myself with my Glock and feel I will improve. I also learned alot about sights and people. I only trust myself from here on out to properly sight my firearms.

I'm happy I kept it. I wish my offline support took my concerns more serious.

Thanks everybody for your commits and suggestions.
