Last sunday Richmond Rod and Gun hosted their bimonthly IPSC match.
I shot my modified XD40.
The match was a pretty good one, albeit rather long. The first stage we shot was a classifier, called Nuevo El Presidente. This El Prez had a few distractions, namely the presence of "Hard Cover" and "No Shoots". Hard cover blocks part of the target, and hits on it count as misses. No Shoots represent hostages, and shots on them ruin your score for the stage. These slow down even the fastest shooters.
I shot the course with the unspectacular time of 10.47 sec, but I shot the targets almost clean with only one C hit out of 12 shots fired. On this stage I shot 19th out of the 57 shooters. Sadly enough this was my best stage .
The other stages were pretty standard, with a few exceptions. "Gunar forget his meds again" featured a "Swinger" that had a no shoot stapled against it, so if you were an 1/8th second late getting your shot off you'd hit the no shoot. I managed 2 A hits on it without hitting the hostage
Here's me engaging the first set of targets 30 yards away:
Here's me engaging the last array:
One stage, "Reno Trouble Makers" required 45 rounds of ammo to complete the stage. Running through the stage in away that required no standing reloads required all six of my magazines. Unfortunatly as I got out of the gate one of my mags fell from my mag holder leaving me with 5 mags. I ran through the stage unaware of this until I reached for my "last mag" and it wasn't there, I said, "****", ran back, picked up a half empty mag off the deck, sprinted to the last array, cleared them and managed to pull out a repectable time, all things considered .
I did fairly poorly overall, but was #1 out of 7 production shooters
Maybe I've found my niche.
