A friend of mine has an all original, all numbers matching G.33/40 that his father acquired in approximately the 1950s. I’ve done quite a bit of research on this and the only place I didn’t check is underneath the upper handguard to verify that serial number location. I don’t dare to try and pry it off because I’m afraid of cracking the wood. I Although it needs a good cleaning and has a few areas where some rust occurred, it is very solid and is missing only the front sight hood, cleaning rod , sling, and the take-down discs on the stock.
It’s not for sale, but I’m interested in finding out what the experts here can give as a current assessment of what the market value is for this. I know at the end of the day that “something is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it”. I have a pretty good guess at what the range of values might be on this rifle but would like some other opinions. Here’s some details and pics below:
Receiver markings (left side): 1135b, G.33/40, nazi stamp
Receiver markings (top): 7,88, 945, 1940
Receiver (right side): nazi stamp
Receiver (bottom): T, J, 3 and a circle z, two “E” stamps and “G3” and “7” on the front side of the magazine lug
Rear sight: Serial number 1135b is “underneath”
Bayonet lug: circle z
Bolt: knob hollowed out, 1135b, circle z on safety catch, underside of handle marked “L1” and circle z, top of bolt handle has a nazi stamp
Rear sight: underside has circle z, and 1135b serial number
Stock: bottom (rear of trigger guard) has nazi stamp, 1135b on bottom, nazi stamp on bottom just above the buttplate, and a nazi stamp on the right side just above the buttplate.
Stock channel: 1135b serial number and also a “436” – not sure what this means. There is also a “2” and what looks like maybe a “5”.
Also in the “channel” near the front band there is an “A” stamped.
Thanks for looking at this!!
