Hey all!

Well, it's time for this old cowboy to get another gun! I've been looking at something that shoots the 10mm cartridge for some time. I already have a Glock 19 Gen 4 in 9mm that I absolutely love, but I want me a "big 10" as it were. I have also been looking at some other 10mm guns, like the Colt Delta Elite and the new Sig P220 in 10mm, but I find myself coming back to the Glock 20 every time due mainly to it's magazine capacity and the great experience I've had with my G19.

I plan to use the gun as a dedicated home defense handgun and also in the woods during hunting season as a backup pistol, and just in general when wearing around the property. I will be running full-power Double Tap/Buffalo Bore/Underwood 10mm ammo in the gun for defense work. I'm truly a revolver man at heart, and run full power .357 magnums through my wheelguns for carry. But, a semi-auto with the same or better power with 15+1 rounds is just an awesome idea to me.

But, 10mm ammo in general... is quite expensive!!! :what:

I was about to give up hope, when one day I found out that a company known as Lone Wolf makes a replacement barrel for the Glock 20 that allows the gun to shoot .40 S&W ammo:

https://www.lonewolfdist.com/Detail.aspx?PROD=951

I don't own any .40 S&W guns, but the ammo is MUCH cheaper than 10mm! How does this barrel work? It says it takes standard G20 magazines, which is a good thing. I would be using this barrel only for practice and range use/plinking. I'd be using the 10mm Glock barrel and 10mm ammo for "serious purposes" as it were.

So does anyone have any experience with this conversion barrel for the Glock 20? Will it be the answer to by prayers? Will it be reliable enough for target practice and training?

Thanks so much for your time guys, and have a great day!! :D

I had a KKM 10mm to .40 conversion barrel for my G-20, it worked great. I don't think I ever had a jam except for very light handloads when I was testing the low end limit. Factory/full power .40 ammo would even cycle with a 20 pound recoil spring.
I would look at KKM, I've had several of their barrels and all have been excellent, super smooth rifling and perfect drop in fit.

Don't tell anyone, but you can also fire .40 ammo in your stock 10mm barrel. They headspace on the extractor, but so do most 10mm loads.

PO2, I just checked out the KKM page on that.

Seems the conversion barrel is $165... looks very nice, but the Lone Wolf brand barrel is $115. I'd only be using the conversion bbl for range work, so... if the Lone Wolf barrel will be as reliable, I think I'd choose it. But thanks for the suggestion, I'll keep it in mind!

I can vouch for the quality of the KKM barrel. They make top notch stuff and are highly regarded.

if the Lone Wolf barrel will be as reliable,
That's the key. You might want to google that because Lone Wolf has had some problems with tight chambers causing feed issues, at least that's what I've read.
Plus you get that ugly wolf etched on the barrel hood and have to pay extra for one without it.

So can I. I also put a KKM .40 in my G20.

Eventually, I'll also get a KKM 10mm so I can shoot umphier hardcast accurately. Polygonal rifling and most all hardcast don't get along. Still need to understand recoil spring implications, though.

I dont have a G20 but my shooting buddy does. He has the Lone Wolf conversion barrel and it has been 100% reliable so far with various types of reloads, including lead, as well as factory ammo.

People on youtube dont seem to have an issue using stock 10mm barrel with 40.

My shooting Buddy has a G19 & G20

G19 he bought a Lone WOlf Bbl. in 9x19 to
have the option for cast bullets with the
conventional rifling.

G20 - he bought the Lone Wolf Bbl. in 10mm
likewise for the conventional rifling. And also
now has a Lone Worlf Bbl. in .40 S&W - since
you see more options with .40 S&W off the shelf
than 10mm AUto. He handloads

The LW barrels are working for him.

Years ago I bought a 40 S&W barrel for a G20. Never tried it.

Storm Lake also makes a conversion barrel; also without the cartoon wolf, but like KKM, it is about $165.
