Do you guys know if the compensated version of the G20 makes much difference? I'm trying to figure out if its worth the extra few bucks.

I wouldn't go for the C version. I tried both before settling for the standard G20. I couldn't tell the difference in recoil, and I didn't like having more holes for dirt and debris to enter for no reason.
The G20 is surprisingly mild to shoot for such a powerful gun. My 105 lb wife wields it with authority.

I think it may be personal preference. I was able to shoot a S&W .45acp a while back that had been ported, and I believe the recoil was much more easily managed with the porting. Porting or compensated, can have its drawbacks, as KBinthSLC accurately points out- I would try to shoot one first, and see if it makes any difference to you- before buying

While I've not done a direct comparison of the G20 and G20c, I can relay my experience with an after market ported barrel. The barrel was 1 inch longer than the stock barrel and had two identical sizeable ports in series. Since it is an easy swap between barrels it was interesting to compare the two configurations. The porting did reduce the amount of jump based on watching the front sight during the firing process < or trying to watch...>. It was much easier with the ported barrel as I can only guess about maybe 5~10% difference from the stock barrel.
Since that was not that significant to my needs, I ended up cutting the barrel to match the stock length. I really didn't want that extra length to deal with when clearing holster.
