I'm a wheelgun man. Always have been. One reason (a big one actually) is because of the big grip dimensions of almost every single autoloader of any serious caliber.
I'm a short dude -- really short- 5 foot 4 (barely) & I have very small hands. For that reason revolvers (J-L) fit me best of all handguns provided I have open back-strap grips.
One problem is I REALLY like the .45 ACP caliber but don't particularly care for the classic 1911 platform. It feels great in my hand but I just never could get used to the whole single-action drill. Just not my thing.
I LOVE the looks of the slimline Glock G36 but I believe the .45 caliber really NEEDs the 5 inch tube to work properly with the excellent 230 jhp loads we have today (Hydrashok, GoldDot, etc.). Also I don't have any problem concealing the 4 inch barrel of my 686 revolver so I don't think a 5 inch .45 would be any big deal.
So I'm wondering could the G36 be fitted with a 5 inch barrel??? If so how much would a mod like this cost?
