It should be a Nitro Spring like Crosman uses, but Crosman copyrighted the term.
Basically, a piston filled with nitrogen or some other gas replaces the spring. So, the gas "spring" powers the piston that compresses the air that shoots the pellet.
Well, yeah, maybe. They say (at least Crosman says) that they are supposed to last longer than the springs in a regular springer. And if it goes bad it's not as if you can reseal it, it's filled with nitrogen instead of regular air, and might be compressed, so it's not as if you can simply put in new seals and call it a day. But if they really do last better than the regular springs, I'd be ok with that.
