My friend has indulged his WWII interests and to complement the Arisaka his grandfather brought back he picked up a M1. Now as you all know ammo is a little tight at the moment and the question of what commercial 30-06 is safe in a Garand came up.

Any guidance would be nice.

Hornady makes ammo for the M1...also CMP sells ammo much cheaper in the en-blocs for 75.00 for 192 rds. but if you order it it takes a few months. Another brand, I can't remember sells some for the M1....also you can change out the M1 gas plug an shoot any commercial brand...the adjustable gas plug runs about 40.00 I believe.

Any commercial Garand safe ammo will cost over $1.00 per rd.
As already stated use good quality surplus or a adjustable gas screw and use the cheapest commercial ammo you can find
Do a search this has been discussed in depth several times
Good luck
