Garmin Xero C1 Pro Chronograph

Doesn't It do down range readings tho, wonder if that's something garmin could add in a updated some how. From what I see the lr guys interested in the new la since they weren't very supportive of the older models and there app sucks.

Lots of us have tested the onboard BC calc of the original LR unit, and we’ve found it isn’t sufficiently precise to be useful. No reason to expect the Caldwell unit will do any better - it can’t read far enough to actually matter.

The new LabRadar LX is pretty awesome - flip a coin between it and the Garmin. The Caldwell - if it ever actually hits shelves (this isn’t a new unit, they’ve been advertising it for a few years, but haven’t yet actually produced them) - deserves to die. Too big, and too late to the party for its price point. Exact same performance they promised from the original Velociradar and in the same exact case/size, but $200 more expensive…

If I can say anything favorable about the LR-LX over the Garmin is the fact LabRadar is allegedly backing its use when mounted to the rifle - which Garmin explicitly says voids their warranty. The Garmin is a lot lighter than the LR-LX, so it would be less likely to damage itself or mounting points in recoil, but it’s not covered for on-rifle use (I fired mine during 3 stages at a PRS match last wknd, plus during the zero/chrony pre-match check… onboard is handy).

I’m not certain whether either of them will survive supermagnum recoil, which is KINDA the application which motivated me to buy the Garmin in the first place… time will tell…

Something I had suspected just from reading about them.

Are there any in use or is it just awesome advertising?

Grr. My older Pro Chrono had a wired remote. When it quit, I sent it in for repair which did not last long. My ham radio/gunsmith said the cable connectors were cheap and nasty. The usual thing, a dollar part instead of a quarter cheapie would have fixed it, but they did not bother. I used it in walk down mode, it was simpler than running all the wiring for my Millennium.

Now it is 'Garmin, take me away!'

I update mine on the PC using Garmin Express. Works with the GPS, my watch, and the Xero. Easy to use.

Thank you, Sir…
I will give that a try (albeit my limited computer saavy)… :p

I was just wondering how well the ShotView app updated…
Got the Garmin Express loaded and updated the Xero…..
You were correct in it’s simplicity……….EVEN FOR ME….!!😂🤓

Well heck, maybe I can do it…..I’ll try to remember when I get home. I used it yesterday, but clean forgot to open the app

I was able to check one out in the field which was demo'd by one of the guys who both mentored me into PRS ~8rys ago, and now into ELR competition over the last 2 seasons. He picked up his LX at SHOT back in January, you can find his video comparison of the Garmin and LR on youtube Ryan Cheney ELR.

Another shooter in our Kansas PRS group just picked up his LX about month and a half ago as well, and I've been able to see it in action a couple times - I ran into him during a practice day, just out of random chance, then I've been able to check it out during our monthly matches this spring as well, and at Box Canyon Showdown this past weekend.

The LabRadar LX's are the real deal - the Garmin Xero C1 and LabRadar LX are great competition to serve the market well.

Nice video.

I still know how to use a pen and paper tho…
That’s what I do, I am just so used to it.

I, after using it a bit, do wait until I am done to log anything, vs writing down each string as I go like I did with my old chronograph. It has proven trustworthy enough.

If I actually tried the app one of these days, can you name a string (session) of shots?

Yes, you can set bullet grains and it will provide more calculations and set session notes for load, etc.

If you do this before you export to xls format, the notes are included in the export.

Has anyone tried measuring shot shell (bird shot) velocity with it. I will try on my next range trip but I thought I would ask out of curiosity.

Used the Garmin this AM, opened the app, said I had no shots yet, never did anything. I’m sure I’m doing something wrong.

I also have not used the ShotView app during shooting.
You may have to verify that your phone is connected/paired with the Xero.
I also had to force a cloud sync when I opened the app when I got home. ( there is a tab to do that under the User Home section in the app)...

When you opened the app was the Garmin "connected" ? I'm guessing you shot all your strings and then opened the app to see them ? I have not tried to use the app realtime, or if that can be done.
