I just got a couple Israeli M-15 gas mask/filters. Im a little confused about whether or not they can be stored with the filter attached, as they show in the manual they came with. During my Persian Gulf vacation in the US Navy, Im pretty sure we were instructed not to pop open the protective seals on the canister until it was time to use them, but its been 16 years and I could be mistaken. Do the filters life expectancy start counting down when the seal is broken, or is the life expectancy based more on the amount of air sucked through the filter?
