Do most centerfire semi-auto hunting rifles, e.g, Remington 7600, etc., have gas-piston or direct gas impingement operating systems?

Most semi-auto rifle types have gas-piston or similar. Direct impingement isn't all that common among different types, but there are a lot of AR-15s out there.... :)

As for hunting (I'm thinking .270 on up as hunting rounds), gas-piston systems are much more common, but recoil operated is common too.

    Third Rail,

Sorry about the mistake on my part--meant to say "Remington 7400," not Remington 7600, which is a pump.:(

Thanks for the reply, appreciate the info....
