Getting scary in Illinois

Wow. That took some seriously big, umm, spheroids to come up with. That is absolutely HORRIBLE!

They just keep on don't they? I sure hope I live long enough to see it the next time...

"I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve." - Isoroku Yamamoto...maybe.

Didn't that bill already get shut down?

The appellate court already struck down a ban on CCW as unconstitutional in IL, no way this would hold up under any scrutiny if it ever did pass.

Apparently they're not familiar with the results of DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA v. HELLER...

Chicago wrote Attorney Gura a nice fat check after their last whooping by the courts. I think this bill is dead, but when they do try to put something in place, if it is during the current makeup of the Supreme Court it could actually create a positive situation for gun rights everywhere after the SC rules against them.

The deal is the state of Illinois political machine has a serious problem with the pro gun argument, the NRA and any other second amendment cause. This is a serious control issue within that state. How these people got elected through to office is mind boggling. I sincerely believe it was corruptly done. The people of that state need to do some serious voting and protesting. Illinois politicians have a grudge and they need to get fired and replaced by those who are willing to represent their citizens and respect them as Americans not subjects.

At it again

The proposed bill for the state senate that this story is referring to has been shut down for now. They figured that there were not enough votes to get it passed. But now it is appearing that Rahm Emanuel and Gov. Quinn are working to get the same bill passed in the house sponsored by another Chicago Politician.

If it passes expect Illinois to be come one big Chicago.

506 murders this last year. Just spread that 'joy' all over the state as it becomes 'gun free zone'.

It's very sad. Your own elected officials trying to do away with your rights. Illinois polititians are a 2A hating lot aren't they. Seems to me that one of your officials escaped from Illinois and is now trying to do the same thing for our whole country. Every time someone tells me that they voted for some dem who has no agenda for taking away our 2A rights I can't help but think that they must have an IQ below 70. I'm sorry but you should have to take an IQ test to vote. Otherwise giving away cell phones or foodstamps could adversely effect an election. It would be like buying votes with taxpayers money. Oops, too late.

Worse than that, the don't even appear to be familiar with the more recent McDonald v. Chicago where the 2nd got incorporated to the states. That decision means that a state can no longer violate the 2nd Amendment, just like the feds can (supposedly) not violate it. Thanks to McDonald, this law is the equivalent of Illinois passing a law that requires all newspapers run their articles through a government office prior to publishing- a clear violation of the 1st Amendment.

This is NOT dead!!! Senate pulled it for lack of votes but Chicagos mayor and the govenor are reintoducing it at Sundays house meeting! YES I said Sunday! They are meeting at 5:00 Sunday evening! Go to ILLINOISCARRY>COM for all the info

One ray of hope is that should they shove the Bill through on an unusual Sunday session, the Illinois Supreme Court may strike it down as an unwarranted and unjustified attack on Citizens, Corporations, and Private Enterprise and could possibly lead to charges of impropriety and/or gross abuse of power being filed against the Govenor of this state...
This could lead to impeachment proceedings or a Judicial Mandate that the govenor step down.

I grew up just outside of Bloomington/Normal. This drives me nuts. All of my friends will be the ones that suffer if IL ramrods something through. Whoever passes one of these terrible laws is going to end up being the crash test dummy in SCOTUS, setting precedent under the definition of "reasonable", which is yet to be defined.

I thinks to show how little these people actually l=know about firearms is in the sentence stating "ban all MUZZLE BREAKS and suppressors"
Like those two have anything in common.

Sad state, this radicall movement must be stopped./

I'm confused. I thought a federal judge determine Illinois ban on conceal carry unconstitutional.

How would they expect a ban on handguns to work if conceal carry should be allowed?

Holy Crap! 0_0 I sure hope this doesn't pass. These proposed laws are worse than California's!

If it passes, I hope Illinois gun owners can make it out okay.

Man they do not learn do they? Didn't Illinois just get pee-pee slapped for not allowing concealed carry?

You would have to prove the guns and mags are yours. I have receipts for ONE of my handguns...and I have ~12.
