It's been a few years actually since I purchased a new cap and ball revolver. Hell, I felt I had enough in my collection to ever want or need another one (anyone else catching the irony here?).

I mean, I have a couple 1860 Armys, couple 1861 Navys, 1851 Navy (LOVE), 1858 Remys in .44 and .36, Walker check, Dragoon check. What else could I possibly need??

Well, the itch is upon me again. Lately I've been thinking a nice Rogers and Spencer would go really well to the collection. I've also very much had my eye on an 1862 Pocket Police, 4.5 inch barrel, with a lovely charcoal blue finish, mmmmmmm. Trying to decide while at the same time trying to convince myself I really don't need another. Plus what would the wife say! LOL! I'm already making excuses in my head, "But honey, don't you see? I don't have a small frame revolver in the collection and you yourself love shooting .36 right??"

I think it's the winter and not being able to get out and shoot like I'd like to. I've been reloading modern rounds, doing some casting, making pistol and rifle balls and minies. Last weekend I loaded up 100 minie ball cartridges an dipped them to lube and it's really got me burning to make some smoke.

What to do, what to do?? :)

Nice!

Cool vid! All mine are steel framed, never had or shot a brasser before but they sure are pretty.

I think I'm really really leaning to the 1862 pocket police!

Well, ok.....
You have our permission to procure a '62 Pocket Police, provided you submit to us a full and complete report of it and it's performance. Including pictures, accuracy report, load data, dynometer test, etc.
If the Mrs. has any comments or reservations, have her contact towboat er for a full explanation.

Done!

Ordered it tonight from Texas Jacks.

Cimarron-Uberti, 1862 Pocket Police with 4 1/2 inch barrel in charcoal blue finish! The Mrs. even said she likes it and can't wait to shoot it. I'm afraid she's going to like it even more than her own 1861 Navy which I specifically bought for her a few years ago.

I'll post pics when it arrives!

Well that didn't go so well.

Got an email back saying they were out of stock, and that they would "possibly" be getting more in 6-8 weeks.

Not very encouraging in my opinion.

PC, Try Taylor's they've been good to me.
Before you go shooting it let's have a talk about what I've found out about the Uberti 62's.
They are fussy guns to shoot because of jamming due to "capcrap" and after about 20 rounds the loading lever barrel lug has a bad habit of falling out, mine is somewhere in the tall grass just off of my porch. I expect a new one from Taylor's this week cost was about $10. I will address a fix when it comes in either upsetting the fit with a punch or JB weld or maybe both.
I have two of them and If I didn't think that they were neat guns I would have sold them after the first shooting session.

Thanks Pancho, and will do.

Have decided to wait on the Cimarron version from Texas Jacks. I really want the Charcoal blue finish and the 4 1/2 inch barrel. I'm pretty set on it now. First thing I do with all new cap and balls is change out the nipples for ones that properly fit Remington 10 caps. I do that for all my revolvers. I'm hoping the cap jam-o-matic is not the case with good nipples. I have no problems really with any of my other revolvers and they have all been swapped out. I LOVE the look of the small fram police pocket and think it's especially cool with the short barrel. It'll be my first small frame in the collection. I'm also a big fan of the .36 and so is the wife. Don't get me wrong I love my .44s too but something about that .36 just resonates with me.

On a side note, since I will be waiting who knows how many weeks on a back-order, (which by the way I have to mention Texas Jacks being most accommodating about, they even called me to let me know they are back ordered and said they will call again when they arrive so that I may get the jump on re-ordering what I want), I was tempted into, by another member on this board, purchasing his Roger and Spencer that I've also always wanted. So, just like that my collection grows by two missing pieces all in the space of wanting only one new revolver. Cap and balls have a nasty habit of doing that don't they?

The wife knew I was setting up to buy the new pocket police but how am I going to go about 'splaining two new pistols?? Lucky me that she loves shooting almost as much as me and it won't be hard to concoct some sort of plausible excuse.:D

...aww c'mon man, you know you have 2 choices:
1. Lie. (There's been some sort of mistake honey, blah blah blah....darn it, I guess I'll have to keep 'em both)
2. Distract her by buying her a gift of equal or greater value. (A wise man keeps notes of things she wants...to use in an emergency like this)

I choose the latter usually.
