Girsan MC 14T .380 Tilt Barrel Pistol

My biggest "not for me" is that it is a straight blowback. The result is going to be a very snappy recoil when compared to modern designs.

As Bannockburn said above, I too have a Beretta 84F, and I've owned other 380's including a Smith and Wesson EZ. I don't find the recoil of the 84 objectional at all. Quite mild really. I too suspect it's the weight of the gun/and magazine of ammo, along with it's releatively wide grip that dampens the recoil.

Some will say they're big for a 380, and I suppose that's true when compared to something like a Ruger LCP, they're certainly no pocket gun, but in an IWB holster, they're quite nice to carry really. If I was going to redesign it today, the only thing I'd change would be ask for better sights, which are probably more of a problem for an old coot like me than maybe for a younger person. The sights as they are are good...just very small, at least by today's standards. A drop of orange nail polish helps a lot.

In it's Maxx Carry IWB holster.

That tilt barrel model looks like a good idea. The slide on my 84 can be hard to grip, so I've learned to grasp it by the forward scalloped area (keep your hand out from in front of the muzzle) and it's much easier. The slide design just doesn't offer much grip area for my old arthritic fingers.

The 86 is among the prettier semi autos IMO. This looks like a nice update. Not as pretty due to the pic rail but likely more useful. I’m glad they didn’t mold finger grooves into the front strap like on some of their other beretta copies.

I thought "tilt barrel" meant it was a locked breech pistol with a 1911-style tilting barrel. To me, this kind of arrangement is more commonly called a tip-up barrel, at least when seen on an automatic pistol. It's nice for people who don't like racking the slides on an automatic.
Tilt or tip, I think it should be flip barrel. My Beretta Tomcat barrel tends to flip up, not tip up.

Thank you for that review! I do hope that he'll do one on the MC 14T. Hopefully, more of these pistols will make it out into the market and get more reviews generated.

I've owned a bunch of Beretta Cheetas and a couple of Browning BDA 380's and I can't say that "snappy" was ever even thought of when shooting them. About as soft a shooting gun as I've ever owned.

If it really has a barrel length of 4.5" - that is longer than the Beretta Model 86 and I believe that the Beretta Model 86 was the longest barreled 380 ACP in the U.S. besides the Cobray.

My FN 1971 in 380 has a 6" barrel.

The recoil on my double-stack Beretta 84 is NBD. It's a thick duty pistol. There's plenty of grip to hold onto and plenty of mass to absorb the recoil. Mine was military surplus (Israeli?). It's the scratched-up one on the left.

Looks cool!

There was an older man shooting in the lane next to me yesterday who had limited strength and at kne point needed help reaching his auto. (He did shoot ok though .) A tilt up barrel like the Girsan .380 would possibly help someone like him out.

If we could only get one here behind the cannabis-and-fluff curtain that shields the Republik from sanity. :(

Stay safe.

Just had a customer show me a brand new Girsan MC14 T like 2 days ago.
I had no idea they existed.
It was slightly larger than my Bersa Thunder .380, and just a little heavier, but I liked it a lot.
The double stack mag is a huge plus, and the barrel was longer than the Bersa, although I am not sure just how long it was.
I'm not familiar with the name Girsan.
A quick Google search showed Turkish origin, but those are sometimes hit or miss.
I'm interested in one of these MC14 T's, but I'd like to hear some real world reviews from users, or at least users of other Girsan pistols.

I bought one a couple weeks ago, and so far have no problems. It shoots accurately at 25 yards and so far I have no complaints. I have probably put 100 or more rounds through it with no issues. And the flip up barrel is great for someone with weakness issues with the (in my case) left hand, though I hope that gets better with time. I have cleaned it once so far and it has not yet shown any issues. Any questions?

Do they take Beretta 84 mags? I’ve heard Girsan says they don’t but I’ve also heard that they do. Have you tried it yet?
