I've had an itch to buy a 45 for a while now. Finally scratched it & put one of these on layaway.

Don't have a 1911 in inventory at the moment either so, 2 birds...

Not interested in any Turk/Erdogan bashing. Just want to know if anyone has some hands on experience with the Girsan made guns so I can set my expectations accordingly.

I handled a Girsan recently at an LGS.
It was tight and had a reasonably good trigger, which I figured would get better with use.
That's the thing with many of the import copies of 1911s and BHPs, initial quality seems acceptable, but I have yet to hear how they fair after a few thousand rounds.
I have a RIA 1911 that seems to be wearing very well. I hope your Girsan does too.

Have a generally high opinion of Turk stuff; have a TISAS GI that is wonderfully fit, with a great trigger. tho' it will bite you with the hammer.
The Turk HiPos also have a great rep.
Not a fan of such glitzy guns (that's just me), but it seems to me that you're getting quite a lot of gun for the money.

It was while researching their Hi-Power clone that I stumbled across this particular 1911 model. Decided I had to get it. I'll say this, the glitz made it an easier sale to the wife.

If your bride is happy with good features at a bargain price, then she is a wise woman.
The quality of machined parts from places like Turkey, or Eastern Europe is always pretty amazing.

I bought the 9mm Girsan. After 3000 rounds it is fine for a low end 1911. It is for range use so I have only shot reloads. I have lighter, smaller 9mm pistols for carry. The trigger is good, I have had to tighten up the extractor once. It won't be confused with my Colt 45acp or my Sig 9mm ultra, but it is fine for a range gun that I don't mind putting lots of round through.

We have the girsan m9 (Beretta clone) and it's been great! I've only found one brand of cheap ball ammo that can cause it to trip up, has chewed through literally every thing else beautifully. Definitely a thumbs up from me.
