give me some fun ideas for the shooting range.

I like plastic soda bottles too, fill them about 8\10th's with water and food coloring of you choice. Then just before placing them drop a 1\4 piece of Alike seltzer in them to build up some pressure and have some Technicolor fun. The caps usually go one way and the bottle the other, but the bottle although "blown up" is normally still in one piece making clean up easy.
Clay pigeons and steel swingers are other fun targets.

maybe I am a moron, but I just don't get 'rifle poker'

I know it was shown in a recent movie, and I know 'put up cards on a board, shoot at em'

but other than that, it makes no sense to me.

You got 52 cards in the deck, how many shots do you get to create your 'poker hand'? 5?

so wouldn't everyone shoot at the aces? If you missed, what then? try and shoot more of the card that your bullet accidentally hit (if it did hit one)? Or go back and shoot at another ace? I'd go back to trying to shoot another ace, as all cards are the same size, youare just as likely to succeed hitting it even after missing as you are at hitting the 6 or whatever.

So when you get done, isn't it "Bob got 4 aces, Joe got 3, Frank and Ryan each got 2, but frank's misses went wide and tagged a 10 and a 5, while Ryan's misses just hit wood.

Unless I am missing something, it is jsut shooting at bullseyes, except they are cards. You could just put up a playing card of any type, even 'face down' and just see who can hit it the most...but then you are like I said, jsut back to basically bullseye shooting.

Listen to Lupinus. Balloons on a string. They move in the slightest breeze and they're cheap. I must admit that shooting at large cans of tomato juice I used for a fire power demo, long ago, was great fun. Mind you, nothing beats a pin shoot. Bowling alleys change the pins regularly. The old pins are pitched. I think.

When using .22 handguns, it's fairly easy to chip a normal golfball farther than 100yds with a good hit
