I was looking at getting a Glock 17 Gen 3 soon, and a shop near me has 2 left in FDE (that brownish/tan color). Both the slide and frame are both the FDE color. Are these more desirable/harder to find than the regular ol' black ones? I haven't seen many of them.

I'm assuming everything is the same except the color of the frame, right?

My concern is that since the slide is a different color, that the finish on the slide will be a different type or quality (read durable). Someone please tell me I'm wrong...

For $560 I'm thinking about grabbing one tomorrow morning. Is that a high price?

They're just distributor exclusives, they pop up from time to time. Lipsey's does the fde framed Glocks. The slide is duracoat or similar. I like the two tone fde better.

I read something about the channel liners in FDE Glocks being damaged during the cerakote process. Is this an issue with factory FDE glocks or just the ones that had an aftermarket cerakote job?

Well after reading about some issues due to the slide coating process, I decided I'll just stick with what works rather than take a chance. So I got a standard black Gen 3 17. The FDE color was neat though...

Had not heard about the issues from coating, but can see where there could be an issue. I think you made a good choice.

Your first Glock? My first was a 17C I bought a few years ago, nice gun. Congrats!

Nice, do you notice much of a difference with the 17C compared to the regular 17?

This isn't my first Glock, I had a model 26 Gen 3 before and it was great but I found I much prefer pocket carry and the 26 was way too big for that. I like the 17 way better, so much that I'll probably get a second one soon!

I don't recall the 17C being any softer than the 17 Gen 4 I tried a few years ago. I ended up selling the 17 as I started liking DA/SA guns better.

I still have a third gen 23 w/ a 9mm conversion barrel and the .40 definitely snaps more but not enough to stop me from carrying it.

Vickers Tactical....

Larry Vickers a retired special ops guy & gunsmith put out a limited ed line of Glock pistols in a FDE frame color. They sold so well, Vickers stated the company plans to put out a few new Vickers series later. Lipsey's is the company I think.
I like the dark brown color. I prefer the S&W Military and Police version but Glock's okay.
