All in all, theyre not too bad.
Okay, right up front, I'll say I like metal firearms. I'm very partial to Colt's 1911 series, and particularly the Commander. After that, I really like the Browning High Power 9mm. And I have an abiding affection for Colt and S&W revolvers, especially their alloy framed .38s.
But, all that being said, I like the Glock 19 far better than I thought I would. I obtained one several years ago, just to have for firearms instruction, and to have a "loaner" for visiting peace officers and my out of state friends. When I set about learning the piece, I found I could shoot it pretty well, with little additional effort. The grip-to-barrel angle doesn't suit me as well as the Colt or Browning, but a few practice draws reminds me of how it's done.
My favorite G19 is a first generation version. I really don't like finger grooves, and I have absolutely NO use for the accessory rail. The pistol is light for its capacity. While a bit thick and blocky, it is reasonably compact.
Before I retired, I even carried on duty occasionally. I used a Fobus paddle holster. It just seemed appropriate: A plastic pistol in a plastic holster.
