I’ve finally decided that the G19 will be my first CCW piece so I have a few questions. I’m about 98% confident  that the gun is safe (This is after polking around there website reading about there “safety action” )

Anyone with the NY! Trigger, what’s the new trigger weight and is trigger travel affected?

Someone told me about something like the comanile (butchered that :banghead: ) safety, anyone have any experience?

Does the glock 17rd mage fit flush in the G19, being I like high cap :D ?

I would like the front sight to be a little thinner, anyone know of a set of sights that fits the bill  ?

First of all, the pistol itself is "totally safe". Meaning that it will not fire unless you pull the trigger. Trigger discipline is critical with any handgun, a Glock is less forgiving than most.

The Cominolli safety is a manual operated "switch" installed near the rear of the slide. It operates just like any other thumb safety, think 1911 here.

The G19 will accept G17 mags but they do not fit flush, it will also accept G18 33rd mags, they don't fit flush either. ;)

I wouldn't go with an add-on safety, never even considered it for my G17.

G17 magazines do stick out of the grip a little. Normally my advice for G19 shoppers is to use one of the two mags that come with it for CC, keep one for a spare in case the other gives you problems, and buy G17 magazines for your reloads and range magazines. That way, if you buy a G17 later, you dont have a lot of magazines that you cant use. Or if you already have a G17 with plenty of magazines, you already have plenty of mags that will work. One 31 or 33 round magazine is mandatory, I think its an unwritten law...

Of course, I reccomend the same thing to G23 buyers and G22 magazines.

I'm not much of a glocker so I cant be much more help, sorry.

i've carried a g-19 as a CCW piece and it is a great little gun...light, compact, reliable.

the gun is safe as long as you don't press on the trigger face. having the trigger safety on the face of the trigger does mandate that you use a stiff holster that covers the trigger guard

mine can with the NY-1 connector (there is also a NY-2) which changes the trigger release from 5.5lbs to about 8lbs. but more importantly, for me, is it replaces the triggers leaf spring with a coil spring. this give the takeup more feel...sorta like a light DA trigger pull. i eventually switched in a 3.5lb sear/connector which gets the release back down to about 6lbs but leaves me the "feel" that i like.

if the 15 round capacity of the g-19 isn't enough for you, i would suggest adding the +2 magazine bases...they bring capacity back up to 17 without the danger of over- inserting a longer mag.

my personal favorite in an aftermarket sight set are the heine slant-pros with the straight-eight night sights

my g-19 has the 2nd generation frame. i've added the hogue slip-on grip for addedstick and the palm swell. i'm not sure this would be as useful on a 3rd gen 19

The G19 is an excellent pistol for concealed carry mode.

One should be trained in its use before carrying.

If you are really compelled to add a heavier than factory trigger to any firearm you are not confident in the firearm or your own gun handling ability.
There is absolutely nothing wrong or unsafe with the Glock factory supplied five pound trigger.
I replace the five pounder on my Model 26 with a 3.5 pound Factory "Match" trigger and don't feel like the gun has become any more dangerous to me or anyone else while I am carrying it.
It is just as dangerous to anybody I may have to point it at, the only difference is a much smoother and more controllable trigger for me.

The Model 19 is an excellent all around carry gun as is right from the box.
It is even better with tritium night sights installed, adjustable or fixed.

If the trigger set-up on a Glock really bothers you to the point you are scared of it then consider a double action only pistol such as the excellent H&K USP/P2000 DAO guns.

Heines are a very good sight system.
You stack the tritium dot to aim.
Heines are usually well regulated for 25 meter point of aim right from the package.
I find Heines to be dimmer than most other night sights.
I guess this can be advantageous if somebody is sneaking up on you from behind.

That's about as good as I've heard it described.
Forget the add on safety, learn safety.
A good Kydex holster is an important peice of safety equipment to protect that trigger. Take a look at Blade Tech's 'U.C.H.'
The G-19 is a great little carry piece, the little brother to my 17L. My 17L wears Heinie staight eight night sights, my 19 will soon. My 10mm and my Sig wear them as well. I think the heinie's are the best combination of night and target sights. I shoot just as well with Heinies as I do with Bo-Mar adjustables. Once you get them set, you'll have no need for adjustables as Glock 9mm's shoot all rounds to the same point of impact. 115's and 147's group together out to 50 yards.
Corbon or Gold Dot 124 grain jhp +p is a good place to start for carry ammo.

Thanks for the help

I just gota say Thanks for all the help, you guys have pretty much designed my ccw gear. Now if someone could suggest a good weapon lights and laser combo I would buy you a round at the bar if, I ever ran into you of course :neener:
