Other "compact" 9mm smaller than a Glock 19?

Have you thought of just putting a NY1 trigger in your G19?
I'm not a Glock guy (by any means) but my understanding it gives it much more of a DAO feel.

A few years ago I came across a LEO trade-in S&W 6906 at an OK price. I have actually grown to like it and consider it a viable alternative to my trusted gen 2 G19.

I've been handling some guns based on these recommendations. So far I have really liked the Beretta PX4, CZ P-07 and Sig P250. I think I might like the Sig more if I put a small grip frame on it.

Not surprisingly, part of me wants to buy five different guns and try them all out...but I don't think I can tie up $2500 just to pick a new carry gun :)

The Bersa BP9CC is the best striker fired 9MM CCW on the market. slightly thinner on the slide, a lot thinner in the grip than the Glock 19. The trigger is all the difference, nice wide shoe, smooth press, about 4# and breaks like glass.

Even better for me, I cut the grip and one mag to 6+1. It's not pretty, but then, I'm a function over form person.

Much like the saying; I show my X (BBQ, range gun) to my friends, I show my Y (plastic) to my (Anyone who would cause harm to me or mine).

I can only hope that i never have to "show" my plastic.

My daughter shot my ex-Glock 19 very well (didn't like the Glock 26 with or without the 19\26 mag extension), she shoots the BP9CC even better due to the grip size, 6 or 8 round mag. Even with the 6 round mag, it's 3 ounces heavier than a G43.

I'm considering adding a second one, minus the grip\mag chop.

Edited to add the 9MM guns I have had in the past that led to the BP9CC\G43 in random order;
Kahr CM9 (front sight fell off)
Glock 26 (no complaints)
KT PF-9 (too light, makes the Shield & G43 feel like a .380)
LC9 (OMG the trigger pull)
LC9S (plain did not fit my hand, should have learned this from the LC9, but I'm a little stubborn)
Shield 9MM w\safety (if it has a safety, use it)
Shield 9MM wo\safety (didn't like the trigger, also should have learned this from the Shield w\safety)
S&W 908 3rd gen (don't like DA\SA triggers)
S&W 469 2nd gen (especially double stack with DA\SA triggers)
Glock 19 (grip too long, although I still have a 19 chopped to 26 mags)
There's probably more, because CRS

No, sorry, has a Glock trigger. I have ruled out any striker fired gun with a Glock trigger. I already have a Glock 19 so I really don't need another gun that is essentially the same.

The Walther P99 with the long AS trigger might be an option, but I don't think any other striker fired gun has the kind of trigger I want--more like a DA revolver than a Glock.

I have one of those trigger springs in my Glock 36. Yes, it makes the trigger heavier which seems to try and replicate a double action feel. It sure is a very inexpensive change to try out. Much less money than a few rounds of ammo.

The only PITA after changing it is not only do you have to release the striker before disassembling the Glock, you also have to hold the trigger during the entire process of getting the slide to move past the sear held up by that differently designed spring. It almost makes slide removal a 3 handed job.

I just went the same route.

I ended up getting the HK P30SK. Perfect for me. I got the model with the LEM trigger but there are also DA/SA models and with or without safety.

The P30SK comes with 10 round magazines but I am using mine primarily with HK 13 round magazine and X-Grip extender.

The first candidate to audition is a CZ P-07. I found a lightly used one for $389. Dimensionally it is almost identical to a G19.

FNH compact

http://guns.armsrack.com/l/1393/FNH-FNS-9-Compact-9mm-Luger

They come DA/SA and DAO. You can still find them on auction.
That's not an accurate picture. I have stumbled across it a few times. The FNS line are all striker-fired (That's what the S stands for). The FNX line is the DA/SA line. However, they only come in duty size pistols with 4" barrels and long grips holding 17 rounds. Great guns that honestly deserve a compact version, but if you want a compact FN, it's going to have to be a striker fired gun.

On a side note, I don't know if the OP doesn't want a striker-fired gun or just doesn't like the Glock-like bladed trigger. The FNS has a smooth pivoting trigger. I love my FNS 40c.

The gun pictured was made prior to the FNS. The new FNX is closely related to the gun pictured. FN is good about making it confusing.

Here is the polymer list. The Forty-Nine and FNP didn't seem to be big sellers.

FNP series: Series of polymer-framed pistols offered in 9×19mm Parabellum, .357 SIG, .40 S&W, and .45 ACP.

FNX series: Updated and reengineered version of the FNP series pistol in 9×19mm Parabellum, .40 S&W and .45 ACP.

FNS series: Polymer striker-fired pistols in 9×19mm Parabellum and 40 S&W.

Forty-Nine: Pistol chambered for 9×19mm Parabellum and .40 S&W.

i understand all of that. I just wasn't aware that there was a significant difference in the size between the fnp and fnx line. One of the main gripes I have heard about the FNX is that takes a magazine different from the FNP, thus kind of alienating FNP owners to scrounge for magazines for a discontinued gun that was only on the market for a couple of years. I still thought the FNP series was a 4" barreled duty-sized gun that would be a bit bigger than the Glock 19 (at least in grip length). I know I really liked my FNX-9, but the length of the grip, while offering a great amount of firepower, was still a little long to make it a good CCW.

My main point is that the link calls the gun an FNS 9 Compact and shows the FNP in the picture. I didn't want the OP to be confused thinking that the FNS 9 Compact was ever available in DA/SA in a compact flavor. I wish it was, honestly. A compact FNX sporting a 3.5"-ish barrel and 12 round magazine would be at the top of my list.

Sig 20222 is nearly identical in size to the g19, is da/sa and is around 400 new with excellent 3 dot night sights.

You brought up my suggestion, the CZ P-07. Nearly identical to the Glock 19 (I have both) in size. Good DA trigger, great SA trigger. 16 rounds in the mag if you use the older mags, 15 with the newer ones.

You'd have to live with DA/SA or SAO though, don't think they have a DAO.
