I own a Glock 19 and I really appreciate the relatively small butt size for a gun that still holds 15 rounds. But here's the thing: I would really prefer a DA style trigger instead of the Glock trigger for a carry gun. Are there any guns with a DA or DAO trigger that are as compact at the G19?

I have thought about the Sig P250 but the only one I've seen in person had a medium frame and seemed noticeably bulkier than the G19.

Any other "small" guns holding 12-15 rounds I should be looking at?

There are lots of DA/SA guns in that size and capacity class - offhand there's the Beretta 92 Compact, the CZ 75 Compact and P-01, the H&K USP Compact and P2000, and the SIG P229. I'm sure there are others but those are all good ones to check out.

P30 SK. I'd get the LEM trigger variant as the DA trigger is horrid but it's a nice little gun.

Since the CZ-75 Compact (14+1) was mentioned, check out these pics (not mine) at another forum.

The the CZ-75 P-01 in that thread, the CZ-75 Compact, and the CZ-75 PCR are all sized the same. All are DA/SA pistols. The Compact has a safety lever, while the P-01 and PCR have a decocker with no safety lever. The Compact has a steel frame while the other two have alloy frames.

With thinner G-10 grips from places like VZ grips the grip width almost exactly matches the Glock.

Thanks for the suggestions thus far. I'm going to look into the CZ guns.

Those of you who suggested Kahr and other similar guns missed my point. I already own (and really like) a P9. What I'm looking for is the gun with the smallest butt that normally holds around 15 rounds and doesn't have a Glock-style trigger.

I think if Kahr made a double stack it would be just about perfect--but I don't see that happening anytime soon.

Another option is one of the old 3rd gen S&W's, like the 6906. It's fairly compact, holds 12 rounds in the mag, plus it has the safety/de-cocker which is considerably safer for carrying with a chambered round than a Glock or similar.

Im gonna squash this right now (and probably get flamed in the process :D). Save your money, and just go buy yourself a Taurus Millennium Pro G2 and call it good. "But it's a Taurus..." I know, I know. But their QC has gone way up since past years. And, this gun in particular, is a diamond in the rough. Just go look up some reviews.

And this isn't coming from a point of, "Well this is all I could afford so it's what I bought which makes it the best thing ever" point of view. I own Ed Brown's and DW's. I buy guns based on either quality/collect-ability or how much gun am I getting for the money.

I have a G2 in 9mm and 40 because, well, they're so cheap why not?? Over 1K rounds through the 9 and around 3 or 400 in the 40. No malfunction of an kind in the 9, none, at all, period. With the 40, I had 2 failures within the first 50 rounds of ammo where the slide didn't fully return into battery, a slight tap and all was good. No malfunction with the 40 since.

It's a 12+1, Da/Sa, and is one of the most comfortable guns i've held. Honestly, it's about the same size as a Walther PPS. Same capacity as a Glock 26 but way thinner. And again, for the price, why not give one a try? They're selling all day on GunBroker NEW in the $200-250 range.

I promise, you won't be disappointed.

C93 is right....while you'll be embarrassed to be seen with a G2 around your buddies, however.com you won't find a better functioning gun.

I just lay mine beside the P220 and CZ75 so folks don't try and hurt my feelings with advice on buying a real gun.

A few to have a look at would be the Walther PPX, Sig P229 DAK (these are a little tough to find anymore), HK P2000 LEM. If you want DA/SA, the Walther P99, HK P2000 (DA/SA trigger), or Sig M11-A1. All are similarly sized to the Glock 19 with the Sig being a touch bulkier and certainly heavier being an alloy frame with a stainless Nitron coated slide.
