So, I hAve been carrying a G27 for about 8 years now and I have recently decided to purchase a g23C. Id like to know the differences between generations 1-4 and what are the color choices? Id also like any feedback on the compensated model you may have as I've never owned a compensated autoloader but like the idea of less felt recoil and quicker follow ups. Thanks for your comments!!!!!

I would never carry a compensated model for defense. If you need less recoil and faster follow up shots, I would go for a 9mm G19.

Generation wise, the second gen had new checkering on the grip, the third generation introduced a rail, finger grooves on the frontstrap and a thumb groove, fourth generation included replaceable backstraps, a new dual recoil system (originally found on the sub compact Glocks of the 3rd Generation), and the Gen4 markings on the slide.

If i were you, id look for a standard Glock 23 Gen3 or Gen4. Both are good guns and very concealable. I owned a Gen3 G23 for a while and it served as a carry gun, worked well.

My carry is a G23, I bought a G22C without shooting one first, the compensated barrel made the gun really loud without doing much for the recoil, it started giving me a flinch so I sold it.
I wanted the full size thinking that it would be easier to control the recoil but I didn't notice any difference, I'll just stick with the 23.

Is there a 23c? I don't think so. Aftermarket barrel, etc.?

I have a 24c and a 21c. The 24 has a KKM 7" barrel with comp.. I went with a Wolff RSA @ 15#s for 180 gr. FMJs, the 21 is at Wolff 19#s for 230 FMJs.

Have fun!

There is a 23C. I personally like the 23C. I don't own one, but a good friend has one. All guns are loud. All guns recoil. The recoil of a glock 23 is nothing to worry about, it's just that my follow up shots are much quicker with the compensated model because of reduced muzzle flip. The recoil is still there, but muzzle flip is reduced. As always, your mileage may vary. If the OP finds that he would rather not have the compensated model, he can always drop in a regular G23 barrel.

The recoil of a G23 is not any different than any of my other pistols, i just can't tell much of a difference. And the G23 is probably my favorite semi.

Try shooting a compensated GLOCK from retention position and at night, and you will see why the plain jane G23 is a better choice for concealed carry. Gen4 GLOCKS in .40 have a bit less muzzle flip than earlier models, and the mag release button is easier to find in a hurry. You can have one in any color you want... as long as its black.

I've heard negatives about a C model blinding the shooter in the dark...ruining your night vision type of thing...like getting your picture taken at night. A quick follow-up is useless when you can't see anyway.

I carry a G23 and don't really have any complaints. I used to carry a 27 and didn't really see the value of it. You've got the same thickness as a 23 and with the finger extension, you've pretty much got the same height...so why not have more capacity and better control of the weapon? The extra half inch on the barrel doesn't change my ability to conceal it and only adds a sight radius bonus along with increased mv.

First off the G23C is not compensated, it is ported. Big difference.

I don't own a C model, but I have fired them a lot, including firing at dusk and at night. They won't hurt your night vision any more than a regular non ported gun, which have a flash in the form of an orange ball at the muzzle.

The old "the porting will rip your face off" myth is BS. It's a puff of air at 2-3 feet and in a defensive encounter you'renot likely to noticeit. Go ahead and carry the gun if you want to and never mind the nay-sayers. The porting DOES help with follow up shots, but not nearly as much as familiarity and training will.
