Chatted up a guy at the range with a G26 with Caminolli aftermarket safety.

I good-naturedly gave him the rib I've often read here: if you wanted a manual safety, why not just buy a gun designed to have a safety??

He said: like what?

Anyone know of a 9mm gun as small/accurate/reliable as a G26 that comes with a factory safety standard?? I looked just for kicks and everything I could find was larger than the G26...

I'll have to admit, it was a nice setup, fit & finish looked pretty good...

I believe that the Taurus PT-111 has a thumb safety and as far as I know is a good pistol, that said, If I thought that I needed a thumb safety on my G26 for a CCW, then the Comonolli (sp) is what I would prefer as well.

see that is one thing that taurus has going for it, small hicap hadguns with manual safeties, there are people out there that want them and there is a market out there, i don't see why more companies don't do that.

as far as the taurus series go i don't know how good they are in the accuracy and in the reliability department, it is hard for me to believe that they would run with a glock, even if thy did i doubt as long and as good as glock. they are small and a great size though!:)

If you can't remember to keep your finger off the trigger every time, what makes you think you'll remember to engage a manual safety every time?

Very happy with my unmolested G26. :)

The CZ 2075 Rami is smaller and comes with a manual safety.

Looks like a nice piece! For some reason it was off my radar. So, what would you rather have, a Cominolli-equipped G26, or the CZ? And please don't waste time or bandwidth on: Glock w/o safety - not an option on this survey! ;)

From those two, the CZ 2075 RAMI.

Other safety-equipped options are the Taurus Millenium Pro and the Springfield EMP.

It's not my Finger, or my Memory I'm worried about.

It's the strap on my holster, or the draw-string on my jacket, or any number of other things that cause folks to shoot themselves with "unmolested" Glocks!

Besides, I have Mexican Carried a C&L 1911 more miles then I can count.
A loaded Glock stuffed down my pants makes me Pee them just thinking about it!

Then get a better holster(like an open-top Kydex IWB, which I really like), cut off the draw-string on your jacket, and quit blaming the gun's design for shortcomings in support gear and operator training, sez I. ;)

Let's face it - all guns are designed to fire when loaded and the trigger is pressed, Glock/SIG/H&K/S&W/Beretta/1911/XD notwithstanding, and fundamentally speaking, any safety mechanism consists of one or more moving parts which are subject to wear, improper fitting/installation, and breakage. Anything made by human hands which is touted as "foolproof" can still be broken/circumvented by a big enough fool(maybe "fool-resistant" would be a better term?).
